davieG Posted 6 October 2011 Posted 6 October 2011 Soarpoint for me. Cheap enough drinks and its got the whole beer and burger for a fiver going on. Not a old man pub either. What constitutes an 'old man pub' on a match day I've been in there and I'm an 'old man' it wasn't any different to any other pub I've been to pre-match?

Dunno, i've seen pubs like the western, oasis or the huntsman where the general demographic inside are old men. Soarpoint, has old men but not on the scale of the others. So if the topic creater is somebody younger then he might prefer soarpoint. /ageism.

Thracian Posted 7 October 2011 Posted 7 October 2011 The Western's become my first choice. Decent selection of ciders and real ales, busy outside area if its fine, there's usually some food on offer if you fancy it and the bar service seems a lot faster than it used to be. It's a traditional no frills pub but the age-range has always seemed right across the numbers when I've been. The only disadvantage to me is that it's so close to the Entropy restaurant. They cook the best steaks I've ever tasted - but combining the two can get pricey!

It's not really? if you are tempted to get a steak and want to save money just consider how awful the service and staff are at Entropy and you will quickly talk yourself out of it.
Foxybeaver Posted 7 October 2011 Posted 7 October 2011 The Huntsman on Narbrough road they have been under new management for a while now and they have done the place up, you can park there as well if you buy a drink which is very helpful
