Where to take the girlfriend away.....

Recommended Posts

As the title says really, looking for any ideas on where to take the girlfriend away next weekend for her birthday??

Was thinking about a nice hotel in London and the theatre?? (Anyone have any reccomendations on hotels that they have stayed at?)

But any other suggestions would be hugely beneficial as not really good at this sort of stuff!

Cheers.

I assume if it's just for the weekend you don't want to venture too far afield - A trip just over the channel to somewhere in northern France might go down well though.

If its next week you will struggle to book any shows in London at short notice. Not sure about France and hotels Get down to the travel agent quick. see if there are any cancellations going cheap.

to heaven and back in the one night. Woof!!

Google Groupon and wherever you live and you'll get cheap holidays and weekends away.

Take her to a sex show in Amsterdam

Might be a be cold this time of the year for you guys but the Swiss Alps is nice if you fancy going abroad or the Scottish Highlands.

Depending on the length of the weekend, you could hop on a flight to Nice. Lovely place to spend the weekend with the missus and im sure she'll be happy. Alternatively you cannot go wrong with edinburgh, paris is overrated compared to edinburgh

Don't take her Scotland. It's full of bitter, miserable jocks.

Dublin is decent.

Hopefully you know a bit about her :P

So, where would she like to go? What places excite her? What kind of thing is she into?

Think those through and go for something along those lines.

London is a good idea, yeah. Obviously there is some good places to visit/look at, such as the London Eye, and all history places if you are into all that like Tower of London etc. I like going to St. Pauls the best. Premier Inn's are decent for the price. There are loads dotted all over, so you are generally close to something. Good food actually and the room's are ok in my opinion.

I like visiting Liverpool the best though. Mainly because, as a big Beatles fan, there is a fair amount too do that interests me more. Stay in a Premier Inn up there as well.

Depends on what you are interested in, and what you want to do, I guess.

Not exactly possible right now though.

Trips to the capitals on the British and Irish Isles are generally very worthwhile. All depends what the OP's girlfriend likes to do, for instance if she's an outdoorsy kind of person then maybe a trip to the lake district or peak district.

What about Bath? There's some lovely small hotels & B&Bs.

There's also the Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural thermal spa - you could treat her (or both of you!) to a few hours of pampering. 2 hours in the spa (without extra treatments) costs £25, but you do get this view...

Bath's also ideal for window-shopping (lots of independent shops), and has lots of cafes/restaurants to suit all price-brackets.

Some good suggestions (Dovedale, Lakes, etc) but, as it's getting cold and shitty, city break has to be the best shout. Can you stretch to an Easyjet fare to somewhere abroad? If not,London it has to be.
