AlphaMaleFox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 are you pictured in your signature photo alphamale? only im the guy in the blue sleeping bag dying after a cold night and sleep deprivation. No, I just snapped the photo...
Phube Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Who ever organised the seating and blocks ****ed up the atmosphere at the Walkers-King Power Stadium. Why have the 'KOP' at the other end to the away fans? I know there is talk about moving the 'KOP' to the family stand however the only stumbling block is that The Kop at the minute holds about 500 more seats than the Family Stand does so...... I STAND in the East stand next to the away fans, we make more noise than you guys in the so called Kop, Leicester library more like unfortunately cept for a small area in there, right from the outset when we moved from Filbo, why did you think it was going to be the same in the south stand as it was in Pen 1 & 2? The only place to be is next to the away fans as we all know, L1 are all season tickets, 95% of us stand up in there, K1 sometimes have seats available but only the back half stand up in there. Guys, when more noise and passion comes from the Family stand than the West Stand we have to face up to it, in comparison when it comes to noise, were a joke. GAAAAHHHH!!!! The same arguments go round and round... One word: LIVERPOOL. Their 'Kop' is... wait for it... OPPOSITE the away fans.... The reason the 'Kop' atmos is diluted is because the fans have split... chavs to L1, non-chavs (but still noisy singers) stayed in the 'Kop'. If all the noisy singers (and you can actually still chant sitting down, crazy I know!) were in one place, like EVERYWHERE else, then the atmosphere would be better! Phew...
Mack Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I hate the word banter. It's just another word for abuse in most cases, be it racist, sexist or something equally unpleasant. They'll always be the dinosaurs that think football is a working men's only piss in the corner, spit at the opposition and spout venom all game. As someone who started going to football in the mid 70's I've seen the hatred, the knives, the darts, the bananas thrown at black players and I much prefer where we are now thank you very much.
Cecchini1976 Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 For me all this I sit here it's better than their is utter rubbish, we as fans should sing as 1 not compete. My stands louder than your stand crap, this is also part of the problem

Ha-Ha...Noisey singers my Ass. Oh and the Chavs come from Cov mate not Leicester
Cecchini1976 Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 Sorry Mack, Banter was a big part of Football, and why you are linking it with racism and hooligans is beyond me. In the kop if it was a boring game, both sets of fans could trade songs, I don't link a good atmosphere with hooligans

I know there is talk about moving the 'KOP' to the family stand however the only stumbling block is that The Kop at the minute holds about 500 more seats than the Family Stand does so...... It's always been a problem at the stadium and if the club haven't done something about it in the last ten years I doubt they will start looking at it now. It would actually make more sense to move the away corner to between the East and Kop stands as it causes no disruption to away fans and there are less STHs in the corner block to have to relocate. Given all the problems of coin throwing and the like that went on from Pen One and the East Stand in the latter days of Filbert St though, I doubt very much the H&S bods would sanction such a move as there were times in the late 90s when we were close to losing our safety certificate because of the issue of standing and trouble between fans. As for being different fans, I used to have a ST in the Carling Stand for about 3 years (one of the dirt cheap ones in the family section) and I can tell you there were just as many happy clappers and moaners in those days as we have now. One woman who sat in front of me turned round in one match and asked if I could stop clapping so loudly as it was affecting her watching the game
Phube Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Ok Scouse. Ha-Ha...Noisey singers my Ass. Oh and the Chavs come from Cov mate not Leicester I'll ignore 90% of that as it makes no sense... Just to say that the fact that L1 seem to think it is their mission to have a go at their own fans in the "so called Kop" just baffles me...
somebum Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Yeah, I think modern stadiums are to blame for this, amongst other things obviously. It's the way they are designed these days... like tin pots with no atmosphere at all. I actually hate the KP stadium, it's not a patch on filbert Street and the fans lose their character. I used to love the Kop next to the away fans ... only a small space by todays standards but when the noise levels went up it felt like you were in the noisiest stadium in the world. Those days are sadly gone as we usher in a PC society and players become increasingly pampered.

One woman who sat in front of me turned round in one match and asked if I could stop clapping so loudly as it was affecting her watching the game I believe the Police wouldn't approve as the away fans would have to walk all the way round and enclosed thoroughfare (i.e through all the home supporters) to get to their corner... Right now it opens directly onto the main road.
Phube Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 One more thing before I go mad.... PEOPLE create atmospheres... not BUILDINGS!!!!

The away fans will never be moved closer to the Kop, never. Away fans have an easy access out at the moment. Let's not send this thread into the thousands of threads already on this discussion.

In the kop if it was a boring game, both sets of fans could trade songs, I don't link a good atmosphere with hooligans It's not about hooligans, what you are harping back to was a completely different era where things were said that today you'd end up in court for. In addition the era you are holding dear suffered from horrendous violence problems, and I don't believe you can completely separate that from the other aspects of the match day environment back then. Much of what was sung would also not be appropriate in a stadium with women and children in attendance. There is one last bastion where a lot of what you hold dear is still alive, it's called the Den, the team is Millwall and their crowds have been dwindling for years because this is 2011 not 1975. On a side note I think if the club looked at lowering prices in order to get a full stadium we could really improve the atmosphere at games.
Cecchini1976 Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 I am afraid that the songs LCFC sang back in the day:) are not known by many new fans. I much prefer away games now, as our away support is very vocal and is 1, aswel as more often than not being able to stand
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Leeds v Cardiff live on Sky now.... Elland Road is empty.... £30 a ticket to watch a game of football is unbelievably stupid.... Players on 10`s of thousands of pounds a week is unbelievably stupid.... Maybe its an age thing but I just don`t get the buzz now that I used to get when standing pen 3, I just don`t get the buzz that i used to get walking down Filbert Street. How long`s the Premier League been going ? 20 years ? only ever 4 winners of it ? football is one huge fooking joke....
Libertine Dream Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Im watching Espn classics at the mo with palace playing man yoo (the birch scored) and my lad asked why everyones standing. I explained thats just how it was back then, and he said he hated the idea of standing all game. Its how football is these days and unfortunatly we have to live with it. Standing is what makes football, when I can't stand I hate it.

Ticket prices I agree with, but not sure about the rest of your post, but fair play, life would be boring if we all thought the same
Corky Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 The type of fan going has changed and the club targets a different sort of fan to those who stand up, sing, going mad etc. But I remember plenty of sections at Filbert St being quiet, even in big games, so I don't think it has changed to a massive extent, just that the noisy section in the Double decker was far better than we have now.
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Didnt 4-4-2 magazine do a survey in the 90`s on who were the loudest fans ? They took a decibel sound meter to all or maybe the top 2 divisions grounds and Leicesters Kop was the loudest. Im sure my mate showed me the article.... Low roof / packed ends / pished fans make noise.... Winning makes atmosphere....

Exactly the same, I feel sorry for the new fans now having this as the first home of Leicester City. I wouldn't have anywhere near the same feeling for the club without filbo.
