Cecchini1976 Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 The reason I fell in love with Football & LCFC in the early 80's was in large down to the atmosphere & banter, but sometimes feel if I was just getting in to football now I would not be as passionate, as since we moved to the KP stadium, it seems like we have a new type of fan, they like people to sit down don't swear and whisper, and they hate you criticising the team. I hate this type of fan( each to your own) no passion, I like seeing people get wound up at games, even if you don't agree with them. For me I like an atmosphere, no drums just clapping & songs & banter with the away fans( whilst I'm on away fans, what a stupid idea not having them by the kop). Anyway I could go on forever but for now rant over, & would like to hear your thoughts
Jon the Hat Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 It's the football is a TV sport generation. Nothing to be done about it.
jonthefox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Im watching Espn classics at the mo with palace playing man yoo (the birch scored) and my lad asked why everyones standing. I explained thats just how it was back then, and he said he hated the idea of standing all game. Its how football is these days and unfortunatly we have to live with it.
Jay Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 modern stadiums, modern football I'm afraid. I was on about this in a way at the last home game about how just before kick off we used to sing a song for every player and a different song at though. Now it seems unless the song startes with de de der de it basically has zero chance of being sung by more than 3 people

The KP is a nice stadium but it lacks atmosphere like most of the identikit stadia in this country. That's why when City are away I go and watch conference footy - it's like going back in time (in a good way).
leicesterseddon Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I swear this must be around the 30th time someone has started a thread like this.
Libertine Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Works both ways though really. Anyone who has a go at anyone for going a bit mad is a tit (though I disagree with booing during a game) but I can't stand people that bitch at people for not wanting to sing or whatever either. The worst are the ones that only pipe up to boo. Modern stadia don't help, can't stand our ground.
Zingari Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 ah good old filbo!! we weren't so bothered about health and safety and all that back then . if the little kids couldn't see the game we threw them up on the filbert street stand roof with the short arses
scottthefox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Taking all previous comments in to account, the KP can have an atmosphere, it just needs to be full. Man City in the cup last year was pretty awesome. If the fans are up for it then theres no reason it cant be an intimidating place for the away team.
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Rip the seats out of L and K blocks, over 18`s males only... Sorted !!!
Whitehaven Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I'd say every ground should have an under 18s area with cheap seats, that way gets the youth into it and can get the singing going
purpleronnie Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I started going to filbert street in the mid 80', thesedays it seems like a different world to back then (in many respects it is). Theres no question the 2 things that changed football forever in this country were Hillsborough and the subsequent introduction of all seater stadiums and the 2nd was the the start of the premier league in 1992. The all seater stadiums immediately diluted the atmosphere as most people didnt want to stand as hillsborough was still very fresh in the minds of many. When standing in seated areas increased the enforcement of ground regulations came into effect. The premiership focused on a new breed of fan, family orientated and with increased ticket prices the working classes were priced out of the game. This doesnt mean the middle/upper class dont sing but most choose not too, working classes often saw the football as an outlet where middle classes saw it as a trendy place to be. The problem (if thats the right word) is football is so popular that clubs dont care about listening to fans because those wanting to stand, or want cheap tickets are easily replaced my those who dont care about either. Most stadiums in the world are all seater but fans in other countries have standing areas within the stadiums, we often do not, the ones that do tend to be surrounded by other fans who dont want to join in, dont want to stand and are offended easily. Theres no fan orgainstation, no unity, apathy is prevelant throughout our society. It won't change, infact it seems to be getting worse each season. When I went to America and experienced a better atmosphere there then you realise how bad things have got in England, people continue to moan but no-one really wants to do anything...and so it goes....
Ashley Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Who ever organised the seating and blocks ****ed up the atmosphere at the Walkers-King Power Stadium. Why have the 'KOP' at the other end to the away fans? I know there is talk about moving the 'KOP' to the family stand however the only stumbling block is that The Kop at the minute holds about 500 more seats than the Family Stand does so......

Dan Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Speaking of the Kop, Ashley, what a fvcking embarrassment. West Ham behind their goal - a good 90% of it stood the whole game, ours doesn't even stand at corners at that end, utterly awful. Purpleronnie basically summed up everything for me and is absolutely spot on with what he says. Can't add a lot to that in all honesty. I am optimistic that one day things will change for the better because the fact things are getting so much worse every year... I just think, maybe they'll become so bad that people will actually have to stand up to things, I think the penny will eventually drop with fans in England, but we're nowhere near it as of yet. Modern football mentality, an absolute cringefest, I doubt I'd be going if I'd ever attended in the 80's or so.
AlphaMaleFox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 modern stadiums, modern football I'm afraid. I swear after yesterday's game, in comparison to West Ham's singing section to the left of away stand, our L1/K1 looks like a bunch of italian ultras.
Cecchini1976 Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 Another problem when we moved stadium, many people got season tickets in the kop, because it was the kop, but Sadly sat their and did not add to the atmosphere, aswell as all the original fans were split around the kop, so it makes it hard to get songs started Another problem when we moved stadium, many people got season tickets in the kop, because it was the kop, but Sadly sat their and did not add to the atmosphere, aswell as all the original fans were split around the kop, so it makes it hard to get songs started

Seriously? You're judging their entire home support on that block to your left? What about the ones to your right or opposite the goal? Their stand behind the goal looks better than anything I've seen at our ground.

Even our Library Kop gone mad when we were at 3: 0 against Derby... Sing when you're winning...
Karljohn Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 First time I went in the old Pen 3 I ended up a good 10 yards away from the 2 mates I went with after we scored! it was mayhem at times, now we seem to have some supporters who will applaud even the shittest of performances (like last week against Millwall) because its a "look at me, im loyal" statement at full time. I just think football is a little bit shit these days, Sky dictating kick off dates and times, half empty stadiums with fans as plastic as the half time hot dog, I wait for my nephew to roll up most games and stand watching some of the guys n gals walk down Filbert Way and its a look of endurance rather than excitement etched on most faces! quite how football changes that has surely to come from the field of play, personally I think the huge wages and the behaviour has detached footballers so far from the fans now, and what they do give us back in the way of entertainment is third rate most of the time! you can try all the goal music, all the "teams are gathering in the tunnel" bollocks and even replays on big video screens but nothing beats a touch of brilliance that Gascoigne, Best, Cantona, Giggs and others like Ginola and Muzzy could offer, these days no one seems to really shine.
Whitehaven Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I sat to the far right of our support the west ham to our right were very loud. Maybe you boys further left couldn't hear them, the acoustics could have something to do with that, but they were definatley singing non-stop and plenty of banter between us, fair play to them.

jamesmilner Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 move the drum and jobber near the kop . being near away fans , wtf ? keep them quiet !!!!!!!!!!!!!
lestasteve Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I STAND in the East stand next to the away fans, we make more noise than you guys in the so called Kop, Leicester library more like unfortunately cept for a small area in there, right from the outset when we moved from Filbo, why did you think it was going to be the same in the south stand as it was in Pen 1 & 2? The only place to be is next to the away fans as we all know, L1 are all season tickets, 95% of us stand up in there, K1 sometimes have seats available but only the back half stand up in there. Guys, when more noise and passion comes from the Family stand than the West Stand we have to face up to it, in comparison when it comes to noise, were a joke.
