ozleicester Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Ive gievn up pondering "who" we are going to get, my new question is , how long will he last? I think our record is something like 16 managers in 11 years so we probably should be running a book on it. But, on a serious side, Whoever we get is still going to be under serious presure to get us into the prem THIS YEAR, so will he be given until after the season ends, or if we go on a losing streak and look like missing the playoffs, will he be sacked? * all odds are made up and i will not be accepting bets on them
Guest MattP Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 About a year, similar to the time Sven got I would think, they would get the summer to mould their own team unless the rest of this year was a total disaster.
BMR Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Saturday after the appointment when the Thais realise they have appointed the wrongly spelt named manager,, they were told to get a brand, O'neills not Clarks shoes!
MC Prussian Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Essentially, we're starting from scratch again. Top move.
Guest MattP Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Essentially, we're starting from scratch again. Top move. Not really, there is some talent in the squad to work with, same as what Sousa had, you just have to make sure you dont bring an idiot in who dismantles it. Naturally whoever it is will need to buy a couple of players in Jan to make up for Svens mistakes (ie, right sided attacking player, maybe even another striker) but this division is absolutely sh*t, a trained chimpanzee should be able to take this group of players to the play offs.
Fox92 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 We have had 16 managers in 11 years, but look at those managers. Would you have continued with Taylor, Levein, Kelly, Holloway etc if you were the owner? Sometimes I feel this stat is used to often and sometimes I hate it because look where we were finishing every year etc.
somebum Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Seems an obvious answer but it depends who they get in and how well he does. No shit eh?

Exactly, but I think some people want to make a point about Sven being sacked, or something like that (and I am not pointing towards anyone in particular, such as the poster who started this topic).
Zingari Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 December 21st, 2012 is the predicted doomsday for planet Earth according to a widely held belief based on Mayan prophecies. So I can't see much point in making any more managerial changes after this one . it's the last chance saloon for us I'm afraid .

Oh yeah... they were so good at predicting the future that they did nothing to prevent their own inevitable demise.

somebum Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 True. Maybe when they were writing out the calendar they just ran out of paper?

Great, usually leave present buying till Christmas eve, will save a fortune this year!!
Donut Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Essentially, we're starting from scratch again. Top move. Nah i cant accept that. Whoever the new manager is isnt inheriting a squad in dire straits .Theres plenty of good players at the club, he'll probably have a few quid to spend in January. If promotion realistically is a bridge too far this season, the new manager has got some time to lay some foundations for a promotion campaign next season, something Sven didnt do (admittedly with hindsight). The new manager will be here for as long as he is doing a good job. Frankly some of the managers that have come and gone in recent years should have gone, although i do feel sorry for those who inherited the club in a mess.

This sounds like just another typical pro-Sven comment, which serves no purpose now he's left. Why are we 'starting from scratch'? Look at the squad we have.. Any decent manager should be able to get this lot playing well...yes it may well take a few weeks, or we may enjoy a fresh approach and play better right from the off? Nah i cant accept that. New England Fox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I'm sure that with whoever we get, as soon as he loses a couple of games half the people on here will be screaming for his head.

Aaah, so suddenly we're no longer required to go up this season...? Laughable, simply laughable! I bet you two will be amongst the first ones to blame this abysmal and circus-like season on Sven-Göran Eriksson. Fickle, oh so fickle. Not even a chimpanzee would be able to get things straight. Certain elements within our current squad looks seriously disinterested and the longer the search for a new manager goes, the longer the dry spell will continue. By which time we'll be stuck in mid-table mediocrity. I agree that's an improvement over the Sousa era, yet we're back to square one and this whole "we're good enough for promotion" bollocks can go right into the litter bin. The new manager will be here as long as the fans don't get on his back. Which won't be for too long.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Anyone who want's to become manager of this club must be mad. They will be expected to gain instant success, and so can expect to get the big elbow if we fail to get promotion this season. :sweating:

Thats the challenge innit

Of course I blame this on Sven, his squad, his players, look at Big Sam, walks in in the summer and just knows what to do, not a chance in hell of him sat there after 12 games saying "we're only this and this off this and this". He knows what to do.
