You can feel the tension mounting as we move towards our managerial appointment with many fans nervous of the potential outcome.

The decision is vital. We're clearly poised to press for Premiership football but, for all that, we need to look ahead and choose someone we might keep for a few years so that if and when we get there we don't need another massive upheaval.

The ideal choice for me is a talented young manager with energy and something to prove. A guy who's at ease with demanding, opinionated egotistical winners, who knows the scene, who's well respected, who is familiar with best practise, a guy equally at ease at home or abroad and who has the character to represent our club at the highest level and in front of the world's press.

To me OGS is the stand out candidate and I'd like our owners to get a move on before someone else signs him up and persuade the man that Leicester city is the perfect place to make his managerial name.

And your experience of watching vast amounts of Norwegian football would tell you OGS is the man for us.....right?

Ole might turn into a decent manager but a small part in an absolutely shocking league where every single side plays long ball does not qualify him for City.

I think Hughes is the best option, Davies the sensible option. Pearson the dream option, Clark the gambling option and Keane the vegetarian option.

OGS's exploits in Norway - including somehow getting Molde into the Champions League for the second time in their long history are a small part in his considerable footballing achievements over the years. The bloke has been a winner all through his sporting life.

Why do you think everything you want to say is important enough for a new thread?

And how many new threads have I started over the last year or so? Very few indeed. Answers your question really.

So we are just forgetting the champions league campaign in 1999 then?

....and the 9 UEFA cup appearances and the 2 cup winners cup runs?

Here's a thought go get your money on Lee Clarke use the winnings to fly to Norway and go tell OGS how great he is in person!

And maybe catch a game when you're there

This all could have been attributed to Sousa before he came here.

Another gamble would be a crazy idea.

I said it in the other thread:

Bucket load of crap, shut up.

Solskjaer may turn out to be a good manager but to suggest that just because he was a top player and won a few things in the, frankly sub-par, Norwegian league he'll be a great appointment is ridiculous.

Mourinho & Wenger to name but 2 were lower league journeyman as players and yet they're arguably two of the top managers around over the past decades.

Presumably the first par's just to cover yourself. As for the second, exactly where have I said or implied that "journeymen" couldn't emerge as managers. Nowhere.

I wasn't saying that you were implying "journeymen" couldn't emerge as managers, what I was saying is that you seem to be suggesting Solskjaer will be a good manager because he was a good player and I was trying to point out that that is utter turd, a few top players make good managers (Guardiola for example) but that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

Sousa, Shearer & Keane - top players, shit managers.

Mourinho & Wenger - Shit players, top managers.

It's bound to be the exception because by the very nature of a game very few people become successful managers compared with the number who try and fail.

But there have been stacks of good players who became good managers as you well know. Sir Bobby Robson, Brian Clough, Don Revie, Johann Cruyff, Giovanni Trapattoni etc etc. and I happen to think OGS is more than just a good player. Time will tell but it doesn' look like he's coming here whatever.
