Howard Riley Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 I've heard that the man who took us to the 1969 FA Cup Final and then led us back to the First division a couple of years later is at the club on Sunday, plugging his new autobiography. Yes apparently the legend that is Frank O'Farrell, is doing a signing session before the match. I'll be honest until I read in the papers recently about his book, I thought he was no longer with us. Fortunately I'm wrong. Welcome back Frank, I'm looking forward to meeting you and discussing how we were robbed in 1971 in our FA Cup quarter final replay at Arsenal. I had the day off school, sick (?) to go to the replay, and when I went back to school the following day after that match I really felt sick, we were robbed, anyone else there that night ? Rodney Fern scored but it was never given, one of the worse decisions I've ever seen, or maybe it was because I was so young at the time, and looked at the match through rose tinted glasses.
flowwolf Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 Oh yes I remember him he fvcked off and left us with out so much as a bye or leave . Then got sacked by Man unt for being out of his depth. Now he has got the cheek to come back to the club he shit on to try and sell his crummy book

Howard Riley Posted 17 November 2011 Author Posted 17 November 2011 Flowwolf I get the impression some how that you're not a big fan of his???

Howard Riley Posted 17 November 2011 Author Posted 17 November 2011 And to think this lively thread all started with me talking about a day off school I had to watch us play at Arsenal way back in 71. Gents life has certainly changed in this country over the last forty years sadly not for the better. Getting back to the original thread I still think Rodney Fern's goal should have stood and Mr O'Farrell I look forward to meeting you. How many of our old managers are still alive that got us promoted into what would now be called the Premiership and took us to an FA Cup Final ?.
Fox92 Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 Yes apparently the legend that is Frank O'Farrell, is doing a signing session before the match. Is this true or just a rumour? Where did you hear this from?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 Not a big fan of anyone who shits on my club  Little / Mc Gee ect all have my undying hatred  . You can't understand why Little left to manager the (bigger) club where he spent his entire playing career? Though I think the fact he kept saying "I'm not leaving" didn't soften the blow. Fatty McGhee on the other hand...
accessory Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 Oh yes I remember him he fvcked off and left us without so much as a bye or leave . And thus set a trend for several others to follow, including Martin O'Neill and the current inhabitant of the manager's office..
Salieri Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 Just like DOG Pearson then. Welcome Frank, you were a great manager. Pearson was forced out of the club, stop being such a fucking dimwit.
Happy Fox Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 You can't understand why Little left to manager the (bigger) club where he spent his entire playing career? Though I think the fact he kept saying "I'm not leaving" didn't soften the blow. Fatty McGhee on the other hand... I remember this chant so fondly Cheer Up, Mark McGhee Oh What Can It Mean To A Fat Scottish B*****d And A, Shit Football Team.
somebum Posted 17 November 2011 Posted 17 November 2011 I remember this chant so fondly Cheer Up, Mark McGhee Oh What Can It Mean To A Fat Scottish B*****d And A, Shit Football Team. I love that chant. Was singing it with the Barmy Army in January re: Ricky Ponting. Cheer up Ricky Ponting Oh what can it be To a Sad Aussie bastard With a Shit cricket team
Howard Riley Posted 18 November 2011 Author Posted 18 November 2011 Slightly digressing but the "passion" well that's one way of putting it, this thread has generated, has got me thinking about what tone threads would have been like in the late sixties, early seventies (when let's face it life was a little more pleasant) if the internet had been around then, could we have expected headlines such as . " Our pitch has about as much chance of becoming a decent playing surface as there is of landing a man on the moon" " Don Revie you are a vagabond" " The two hundred pound a week footballer you're having a laugh" "Leatherhead future First Division Champions ? " " The young Shilton willl never make it as a goalkeeper. "

Howard Riley Posted 18 November 2011 Author Posted 18 November 2011 I've already read the book, it certainly gives you a great insight into the club in the late sixties early seventies.. One thing I didn't realise was that the Kray twins were in Leicester prison at the time and also what a miserable so and so Allan Clarke was.. .

Yes , he was called “sniffer” because he was always crying , not because he sniffed out goals

How many of our old managers are still alive that got us promoted into what would now be called the Premiership and took us to an FA Cup Final ?. Look on the bright side Howard. Most people are still pleasant, polite and tolerant to each other. Unfortunately one of the things to emerge during that last 40 years is the keyboard warrior - almost all the abuse on line would never be given out if the person giving it was standing within punching distance of the person receiving it.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Man unt did not think so and he went on to do what exactly in football? great manager my arse. He was great for us though!
whoareyaaa Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 I remember this chant so fondly Cheer Up, Mark McGhee Oh What Can It Mean To A Fat Scottish B*****d And A, Shit Football Team. and the other. HE'S FAT HE'S ROUND HE BOUNCES ON THE GROUND MARK MCHGEE, MARK MCHGEE
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Pearson was forced out of the club, stop being such a fucking dimwit. Then why has DOG been quoted today as asking Leicester fans to forget that he left us to join Hull, and to get behind him. Very odd comment for anyone to make if they had been pushed out. Source was Ceefax, today.
