Which memories would those be, by the way? :giggle:

Pretty substandard player, would never have been an international for any of the other home nations. Never really liked Parks at all.

And to retire after one game of the 6N? Not a great attitude, to be honest. He's right, y'know, there are a lot of up-coming youngsters on the Scotland scene so why would he not want to stick around and lend his experience to the cause, offer a little cover here and there? It's like he's said "if I can't be number one, **** ya'll."

Threw his toys out because he had a shit game, just about sums up Scotland.

Having a player that could (very) occasionally put in a half-decent kick.

If I'm honest I'm glad he's gone, not been the best option we've got for a few years now. The whole "stay for England then **** off" bit has pissed me off though

It's obviously bollocks, it wouldn't surprise me if he's fallen out with Robinson. AR was fuming after Scotland threw it away and I imagine there were words. Not least to Parks.

http://www.bbc.co.uk...-union/16971144 LMFAO lol lol

Now don't get me wrong, we're not a cert to win and I'll be a little bit anxious come kick off because there's a big onus on us to back up our performance in Dublin with a solid win.

Plus, quite frankly, if we have realistic title aspirations in a year when I don't see forsee a Grand Slam for anyone then we're going to have to rack up some proper points difference.

But my cautious realism taken in to account, that's still a ****ing hilarious headline coming from the most dour rugby playing side in the Northern hemisphere. If they win it's going to be ugly, efficient and combative.

Injuries are a huge concern for us, we've got Priestland, Cuthbert, Roberts, Jenkins, A Jones, Lydiate and Warburton all in the side who have had recent fitness scares or are only just freshly return to the side.

That said, if everyone stays in good condition then we've almost got our best side out at the moment except for our locks and Ryan Jones is no shabby stand-in, he was monster against Oz and tidy in Dublin.

Genuinely optimistic. It's ours to lose, in my opinion, if we show up with the right attitude and apply ourselves from the first to the last whistle we could genuinely see a repeat of '05. Sincerely think Scotland are ****ing woeful at the moment, I'll be genuinely embarrassed if they make it as close as 2010.

Tournament starts now. I like how we've started with the worst team, then beat the second worst team. Hopefully beat the third worst team next game. :D:P

That's a ridiculous decision to call that match off minutes before kick off

Okay, now stop for a moment and put that decision in the context of Bradley Davies' tip tackle last week.

Imagine the damage if he'd dropped Ryan on frozen solid ground. Still ridiculous?

Arguably they should have called it off earlier in the week but until they got all of their heating equipment out on the night and tried to thaw the pitch and saw the weather on the day then they were never really going to know for sure and any chance to play the game they would have. It's a situation they're not overly prepared for or are used to, it's been some twenty five years since the last postponement of a game. As you saw in Italy, we'll happily play in snow, it's just the Paris ground has no under soil and was very, very hard.

Plus the 6N runs on a very tight schedule, they'll have wanted to avoid postponement at any cost. It'll be a drag for those that have travelled, sure, but I think most what admit they'd do so again for the chance to have seen the game.

It wasn't ridiculous in the context of the safety of players, and I think you'll find I never mentioned that!!

It was the timing that I took issue with, and I take the point about not wishing to disrupt a tight schedule but as always the complaint from anyone who'd gone to that match would be could they not have taken that decision at an earlier point in the day given that, as I'm lead to believe, they knew of the under soil heating or lack of it situation, and the predicted temperatures?

Admittedly most who would have travelled would still be there for the entire weekend I'm presuming but I'm sure the delay in announcing the postponement would've caused severe disruptions to many fans

You announce it any time on the day and you're going to still have wasted the time of those who've travelled from Ireland or the southern reaches of France. You may as well, at that point, take it up to kick off and see if you can do something about it with on-pitch heating aids and try and get it to pass inspection.

This Scotland team couldn't finish a wank

Hard done by on that call but the point still stands.

Much better second half, though the same old concerns about not doing it for eighty minutes arise and a little disappointing we couldn't run up the score a little in what'll be a very close year.

Bit of an improvement for Scotland and the confidence of finally scoring a try may help to see them avoid a whitewash, Hogg certainly shows promise. We'll probably have to suffer a few sour jocks bemoaning the try-that-wasn't but, simply, if they'd have scored that they'd not have scored the "second" so I figure they had justice.

Most entertaining from a very boring bunch.

Much more entertaining than South Africa and Argentina, as well, and easily on a par with Australia. Lacking the same level of quality, yes, nobody doubts that at all; but the ambition and the willingness to run are very much there. Most neutrals will tell you Wales - Ireland was probably the best game of the world cup and we've probably knocked up, between us, the best games of the 6N this year as well.

I appreciate you're trying to be provocative so if you try a little harder I might, you know, throw in some swear words and play at being wound up for you if you like? But I watch a hell of a lot more rugby than you confess to, north and south, and with the Calcutta Cup aside, I think the 6N is one of the best rugby spectacles on the planet. And you'd get most 'experts' agreeing with that.
