Finnegan Posted 13 February 2012 Author Posted 13 February 2012 I'm just not the angry man I used to be.
Nick Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Well, reluctantly I have to say that despite the venue, I quite fancy Wales to have a pop at England next weekend and come out with a win. Toby Flood back in training with England this week - I hope he's picked for the side to face Wales, we could use his creativity and kicking boot.
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2012 Author Posted 13 February 2012 I hate, HATE, being the favourites for difficult away games.
Nick Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Looking forward to this in trepidation. Just read that Wales have more Caps on the bench than England have in their starting line up!
Finnegan Posted 25 February 2012 Author Posted 25 February 2012 Yeah but we don't have that many more on the pitch. As I was saying to Sparky earlier, you may be inexperienced but people were saying the same about us before the world cup. Who, outside of Wales, had heard of Davies, Faletau, Priestland or North? Who, three weeks ago, had heard of Cuthbert? I'm very anxious about this game, I hate being the favourites. The difference between us is much less than the media want you to believe, we just have a bit more form and better coaches. The stuff about Wales being arrogant or over confident is completely rubbish, I'm far more concerned about us bottling it.

As if you "hate "HATE" " being the favourites.

Finnegan Posted 25 February 2012 Author Posted 25 February 2012 Stop trying to play the moral high ground. As if you "hate "HATE" " being the favourites. I don't understand what you mean, matey, what's taking the moral high ground there? I hate being the favourites, especially going to Twickenham. We've a lot more expectation and a lot more to lose. Typically, we do much better as plucky underdogs. Look at Wales in 2005 and 2008, nothing at all expected of us and we came away with grand slams. In 2006 and 2009 we were touted as favourites in the wake of those championships and look what happened. Complete flops.
Nick Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Well, being plucky underdogs is always nice because afterward one can say, "We gave it our best shot" At some point (supporting Tigers and England, I know a bit about this) you have to make that transition when the pressure is the other way round and your team is expected to win. It takes a different type of performance. Take Leicester beating Saracens last weekend away from home, Saracens unbeaten at home in 9 ..... 80 mins gone and 28 phases later from out of our own 22 to get a drop goal and steal the win - different sort of pressure and team performance. I think Wales will wear it well today, they'll be physically more imposing. I can see your point it's more likely Wales will lose it than England will win it, if it doesn't go your way. Enjoy the match I'm off to the pub in my Tigers shirt to make friends. Unfortunately the pub is in Northampton so it doesn't always work out that way. N.
Haydos Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Great tackle from Warburton on Tuilagi. We look dangerous when we get quick ball.
Haydos Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Poor decision making a bit of a setback though.
Samu Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Does anyone know where I can watch the game online? I'm in the States so can't watch it on BBC

Finnegan Posted 25 February 2012 Author Posted 25 February 2012 Englands best game so far, they look very good. Though I can't understand why your scrum half is constantly slowing the game down when you look best when you play at speed. Wales are awful, going to lose comfortably if we don't improve hugely in the second half. And seriously, injuries, again?
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 That tackle on Tuilagi was bloody brilliant. Close game, quite good, Wales should've got some points on the board in the first 15 or so when they were dominating. After that we've done alright, got a lead at half time so it's not all bad

Like the commentators are saying, I don't understand why that ball isn't 'out'. They should have 5 seconds (or however long to play the ball other wise the ref can call ball out.
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Gets better every time you see it, that Warburton tackle. Reckon we could win this.

But why in this context? Phillips does it a lot and it infuriates me.

FoxyPV Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Nice win. Looked very defensively suspect at times against this Italian team. If they'd have had a decent kicker it could have been much closer esp in the later stages of the first half. Ah well.
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Bollocks. Good try, mind. Great solo effort.
