Tony Fernandes has invested a considerable amount of money for Warnock to build his team, Wright-Phillips, Barton etc. will not be on a pittance, and for the amount spent he hasn't even got them into midtable. In fact, they are relegation candidates as it stands. Actually, come to think of it, weren't you one of those who constantly slammed Sven for spending a considerable amount and doing nothing. Warnock is the exact same in this situation, what makes it different? Any manager who has got a team promoted should be given the chance to keep them up. I would understand if they were in the relegation zone but it's obvious that they never wanted him from the start. He didn't have much chance to get in all the quality he wanted with Fernandes joining in late summer i think? So was only able to get Ferdinand, Wright-Phillips and Barton in the little time he had available. And no i didn't at the time, but i do now. Sven brought in a load of shit as well as some good players, Warnock didn't bring in any crap for big money from what i can see.

Richard Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 I didn't mind him until his interview after the Arsenal game when he couldn't have a good word to say about Van Persie, just basically labelled him a cheat and said he should teach the QPR forwards how to foul defenders every time he has the ball

Last season, Taraabt accounted for something ridiculous like 17 goals and 17 assists. To say he was the reason for their promotion would not be an understatement. This season, his head has been turned as he wants to leave so there's a big gaping hole with the rest of the team not good enough to survive in the Premier League. Warnock's not had money to replace him and no-one has come in for him. In terms of having money thrown at him, Warnock only got the money towards the very end of pre-season, so his whole pre-season was disrupted without being able to make definite plans and having to stake free transfer gambles on the likes of Kieron Dyer and Jay Bothroyd. When the takeover finally happened and Warnock got some money, clubs would only sell those players not wanted (so as not to disrupt their pre-season plans). As a result, he signed Barton, Wright-Phillips, L Young and Ferdinand. In and amongst themselves, they are not a bad calibre of player, with Barton and Young doing well. Admittedly, Wright-Phillips is flattering to deceive but I don't think anyone outside the top 5 clubs would view signing him as a bad signing). All in all, I think Warnock's been dealt with harshly and hope that this isn't another attempt by a chairman, using the recent run of bad results to bring in a big name manager for marketing purposes in the far east.

Couldn't of happened to a nicer bloke though have to admit.
Bryn Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I think it's harsh, they certainly had the hardest preseason of the promoted clubs and the atmosphere is totally different. I still think Warnock is a decent bet to get any side up at this level.

And to be fair im sure most of us would have thought the same if it wasnt our club. He'd have been our manager once if it wasnt for the outrage of our fans at the time.....think we got Martin Allen instead...well done lads!!!
