Bilbo Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 I've just watched the video of Liverool fans racially abusing Oldham player Tom Adeyemi and it is one of the most disgusting incidents I've seen in football. The lad is clearly upset by what has been said to him and is trying his best to keep it together. The frequency of racist incidents recently in football is alarming. People such as Kenny Dalglish openly supporting players like Suarez when they use racist language only sets a bad example and sends out the message to fans that this sort of appaling behaviour is ok. I hope an example is made of the scum bag Liverpool supporter who set football back 20 years and he is banned for life

Evra has been known to make unfounded allegations in the past. And there seems to be more evidence against Terry so why are'nt the FA dealing with that case as if the courts deal with it and find him guilty his penalty will be far less than what suarez's punishment was

I hope an example is made of the scum bag Liverpool supporter who set football back 20 years and he is banned for life I agree that there's absolutely no place for it in society, let alone football. For me, it's interesting that Liverpool have said they'll ban the supporter for life (and rightly so) because he called Adeyemi a 'black bastard' and yet they're at pains to defend Suarez after he called Evra a nigger / negrito. Suarez may well have not realised the cultural differences and all that but why didn't Liverpool just say "yes it's wrong and we'll deal with it"? Prob because Suarez is their best player who they wouldn't want to upset and the other is one is a supporter the club don't give a shit about.

And I think the fact that Suarez admitting to calling Evra a 'negrito' as well as him being found guilty of the claim would go some way to providing evidence about the incident. Also, Evra didn't make the 2 claims in the past which I presume you are talking about. One was made by the other players, and the other claim was made by the Man Utd coaches.

It was actually by Manyoo coaches AGAINST Chelsea coaching staff.

MikeyT Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I didn't realise that the Liverpool players had wore t-shirts in support of Suarez. Hmmm, it's almost like they are condoning his actions by doing that. I realise they probably aren't, but still, kind of gives a pretty bad message doesn't it.
Samilktray Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I personally think Liverpool should be made to play behind closed doors for a few games.
Guest MattP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I personally think Liverpool should be made to play behind closed doors for a few games. What because one person shouted "black bastard" or "manc bastard" as is being claimed? As for the player, it shouldnt happen and if the guy has said it then he should be banned but crying on the pitch? FFS what an absolute girls game this has become, if he starts crying because someone shouted something from the stand at him he has nowhere near the mental strength required to be a footballer. Harsh but true.
bmt Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Can't see how it's worse than the 'fan' infront of me at forest who shouted, "do something you chinese bast*rd" at yuki abe and "what the **** was that you black c*nt" at peltier,
Samilktray Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 How dare he get upset over being subject to racist abuse. The nerve of it.
Guest MattP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 How dare he get upset over being subject to racist abuse. The nerve of it. I thought that would be the reply, sorry I don;t subscribe to the view I should be hugging him, I just thought it was all a bit pathetic. Crying on a football pitch over something shouted from the stands. Would love to know what people like John Barnes thought of it considering the terrible stuff he had to go through at Anfield.
Corky Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 It's the skin colour reference that's the issue. If it was "you bastard" then I'm sure it would've been ignored- but when you bring skin colour into it, something that a person can't do anything about, then it will affect people. If people want to call me names about my person I can cope with that- I can change my personality, opinions etc. I can't change my skin colour.

You don't know his previous experience with racism and I doubt you have been in a similar situation of this type i.e. random hate. All your tough talk about "mental strength" behind a keyboard when I would put money on the fact you are the sort of person who acts big then shows how much of a pussy they are when the shit hits the fan. At the end of the day nobody should be subject to this sort of sickening behaviour.

There have been hundreds maybe thousands of incidents like this and I've never seen someone break down in tears like they have been booed in a school play. What next? Are we going to have Crouch off crying because someone called him a lanky cnut? How much money do you want to put on the fact I'm acting a big man who acts like a pussy when the shits hits the fan then?
James. Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Straight white English man* tells racially abused black man to stop crying like baby. Hmmmmmmmmmm. *couple of assumptions there, feel free to correct me.
Guest MattP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Straight white English man* tells racially abused black man to stop crying like baby. Hmmmmmmmmmm. *couple of assumptions there, feel free to correct me. Yes I am a white English straight male, a lot of us have done ok for ourselves you know, what's your point? If every single person in the world started crying whenever they got abused by someone nothing much would get done would it?. Grow some fcuking bollocks for gods sake, they guy will get dealt with, Liverpool will get fined, the kid will be fine, he might have been called a "black cnut" - he's not been kicked to bits in the street. What a nation of absolutely faggots we have become, I used to defend football as a man's sport, some of the things I have seen over the last few days have killed any doubt I had about that. You want to hear some of the things I've heard on rugby and cricket pitches.
James. Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I had you down as a straight-talking common sense poster, much of what you said I agreed with. Not in this thread though. If Crouch started crying after being called a lanky cvnt then I'd be there with you telling him to grow some bollocks. I'm a lanky cvnt and the last thing I'm going to get upset about is people taking the piss out of my appearance. This is completely different though. Firstly you don't know what was said. Secondly you have absolutely no idea what this player has been through before. I'm not going to speculate and justify his reaction (maybe he is being a wuss) but I'm also not going to dive straight in and call the lad a pussy when I have no idea about the facts. It's easy for us straight white males to either 1. tell him to stop crying because ultimately we've never been the subject of potentially deeply offensive abuse and generally live pretty comfortable lives or 2. leap to his defence because we're limp wristed liberals who think we know better than the ethnic minorities themselves how to react to racism. I'm not going for 1 or 2. I'm just erring on the side of being sensitive until I know the full story.
lcfcadam Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I don't want to come across as agreeing with MattP because from prior experience on these boards (and his statement that we have become a nation of "absolute faggots" which sadly is definitely not the case...) but I must admit I find it difficult to understand the guy's reaction. I really, seriously, cannot think of anything that an anonymous opposition crowd member could shout at me whilst I'm playing on the pitch that I couldn't just ignore. I'd more likely have a slightly depressed wry smile about how pathetic and despicable some members of the human race can be. That said, I'd also say that that is just my personal attitude, and I agree that I'm not going to judge the lad at all without knowing the full story. To call him a "pussy" or "faggot" as MattP so eloquently described is pretty out of order really.

From a Liverpool fan I know at least 12/15 people have come forward to the police to say they heard him shout "Manc Cnut" and not "black" so its not without foundation whatsoever I'm picking on this guy. It's more a point again that everyone is desperate to be offended by something now, you're not in fashion if you havn't been offended recently.

I didn't call him personally a faggot, I said we are becoming a nation of them, I'm using "faggot" in the American slang term as well and not as a homophobic slur. Like Adam has said above, I just cannot fathom how anyone could start crying on a football pitch and like I mentioned in the earlier post, if he cries at that he best not come anywhere near a rugby or cricket field as he would be laughed off it.
Dan Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I don't understand why it would be acceptable to call Crouch lanky, something which quoted about Adeyemi's skin colour "he can't change". I'm not saying I agree with racism, there's no need at all for it, but I think at times it's taken more seriously than it should be, yes it's bad, but like I say with Crouch, that's something he can't help as well? What's the difference there? I feel for Adeyemi but sadly I have to agree if he can't take stick from the crowd, then his mental strength becomes very questionable.
Samilktray Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Isnt the word Faggot an American slang term for a homosexual...
Guest MattP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Isnt the word Faggot an American slang term for a homosexual... Was, used more as a term to describe someone as weak nowadays.
