buzzy Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Peak Hit two belters if i remember correctly. I was stood in the family stand with my liverpool supporting brother. With Lynex tearing up the wing. 3-0 up after 20 mins against a united who were unbeaten at that point in the season and about ten points clear at the top. A lead they let slip resulting in atkinson getting the sack. I got so much stick from the man u fans at school the week before that game telling me how they were going to stuff us. The following Monday was so good at school, and the Tuesday, Wednesday... Great players from the era, Ian Wilson, Kevin Macdonald, Obviously Lineker, Smith and Lynex. Wallington, Bob Hazel, Tommy Williams, Bobby Smith. This was the first Leicester team that i can properly remember. also remember at the end of the game the man utd fans started to rip out the seats in the east stand
jonthefox Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 5 -2 what a game alan young went in goal i think I took a penalty against him at a school fete. Koont saved it as well.
Vlad the Fox Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Can anyone remember a morning or dinner time game against villa. Our squad was ravaged with injury's forcing us to debut a 16 year old called Robert Alleyne (god knows how i remember his name) who i dont think featured for us again. Anyway if my memory serves me correctly we won 6-1 with Andrews saving a walters penalty.

Anyway if my memory serves me correctly we won 6-1 with Andrews saving a walters penalty. Remember this well, we won 5-0 on a saturday morning 11am kick off, think lcfc tried the k.o time out as it was near xmas and they figured more would come to the game and then do xmas shopping or something like that, if my memory serves me right we had barely 12000 in filbert st, Lineker got 3 of the 5. Peter Eastoe got the fifth, 1984/85 season. Other early memories were Burnley 1983 promotion game, drawing 1-1 with man united in 85, and losing to a Ronnie Whelan curler at home to Liverpool, when you stop and think about those days and even the brian little era, football is shit now and has gone soft!
Guy Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 i remember us beating Man U 3-0 in i think the 1984-85 season? Close, it was the 1985-86 season - the last one we stayed up in the old first division before sadly being relegated the season after. Man. Utd were top at the time too, ten points clear I think but would not win the league, it was Liverpool as they did the double that season. Big Ron was still Man Utd manager that season, Gordon Milne was still ours of course..
The Prince Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Great memories. Sat on the white wall at the front of the main stand. 1st game was notts county (82-83 season I think). Lost 4-0. Stevie Lynex still my hero!
Guy Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Great memories. Sat on the white wall at the front of the main stand. 1st game was notts county (82-83 season I think). Lost 4-0. Stevie Lynex still my hero! Another season out, it was start of 1983-84, that Notts Co. debacle at Filbo - but you're close! It was my first season of going (when we beat West Ham 4-1 in 1984). I well remember that dreadful start to the season though and all the anti Gordon Milne feel at the time. Then it suddenly turned around after the defence had tightened up after signing big Bob Hazell! Rather strangely that abandoned game at Filbo against Southampton was the turning point, the pitch was a complete quagmire! I remember Steve Lynex falling over and doing breast stroke in an amusing attempt to get the game adandoned, something which succeeded. We then never looked back after that game if I recall. Al Smith and Lineker banged in the goals, Lynex, Ian Wilson and all weighed in Peake too. I think we finished 15th in the end after a brilliant second half to the season. I remember us drawing 3-3 at Anfield that season too! Whay days, almost as good as the O'Neill era!
carlhltid Posted 13 February 2012 Author Posted 13 February 2012 Was there that sad day - Tommy Williams broke his leg if I remember rightly ? yep thats right also remember at the end of the game the man utd fans started to rip out the seats in the east stand mardy man u

All his mates where in there(I'd met some of them) when we scored one of em smacked me in the ear n said cheer ya fvcker so like a 2hat I did. Never been so scared in all my life but tbf all his mates stood up for me. We come out after and I was nearly arrested for arguing with the coppers they wanted us to go to the station and the car was parked at freemans common. They let us through in the end told him n his gf to keep it shut. Never Again

Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Great times under Jock and then the underated Gordon Milne, plenty of Scotish players, B Smith, Kevin Macdonald, Ian Wilson, Jim Melrose, Alan Young. Still my favourite ever front free, Lynex, Lineker, Smith, happy memories of standing in the Members stand before the fences went up. A few more names come to mind from that era- the excellent Ian Andrews and Andy Peake, Ian Banks, Jon o'Neill Bob Hazell! and the lesser known Paul Friar Peter Eastoe Rob Jones I also once asked Norman Leet for an autograph but he refused If I remember correctly attendances were poor through this period mainly due to football hooliganism . We held our own in the top flight for a few seasons, we were only 1 or 2 players short of being a good side. 1 more name Tom English!!!!!!! Great times.

seenitall Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Collymore/Heskey Rowley/Hines (we're talking regularly 50+ goals a season from this partnership) Was Colymore Heskey one game only?
Guest Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I think the WWW days were better. Whitworth, Weller, Worthington, Shilts, Nish, etc... (apart from the birch)
accessory Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Was Colymore Heskey one game only? Two - they played together in a 4-3-3 with Tony Cottee at Watford before the League Cup Final.
