Freeman's Wharfer Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 I think he is prolific and a very good striker, but I think he gets all the credit up front and Beckford gets nothing Hmm, 12 league goals to Beckford's.... Out of the two, Nugent isn't meant to be 'the goalscorer' yet he scores far more and offers so much more else in terms of build up play and defending from the front. I'd go as far as to say that Nugent's carried Beckford an awful lot in their partnership, doing the donkey work and producing moments of class whereas Beckford has done (with the exception of 90 minutes against a terrible Forest side) well... nothing.
thybluefox Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 He was free, right? He's our version of Demba Ba for Newcastle You're just a white Demba Ba, white Demba Baaaaa, you're just a white Demba baaa.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Walked past Nuge in the highcross today, if either of the two birds he was with is his missus then he's done well for himself!
Basingstoke Fox Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Love the guy. In fact I've seen him play in 8 games (Including two for Pompey last season against us) and he's scored 6 goals in those overall. His goal against Southampton and his 2nd yesterday were f**king sublime! He is on high wages but he definitely earns them and is definitely a credit to the club when he pulls on the jersey.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Player of the season up there with big sol Kasper?
DorsetFox9 Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Great player, although Kasper is a great purchase too imo
munf1987 Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Probably because, despite Beckford's game being all about goalscoring and Nugent's not, Nugent has scored 4 times as many league goals this season. Didn't Beckford set up both goals against watford or at least play a big part in both the goals. I don't care which one of them scores the goals but if they work together and they get goals, then who cares. This partnership is starting to click, lets just hope both stay and Nigel sorts the rest of the team out.
ozleicester Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Just seen the highlights....Another cracking finish from Nuge, he has been one of the shining lights this season, am i correct that it was Gally (and with a header) that set the goal up?.. or are we not supposed to mention that?

bluearmyfox23 Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 I agree with everyone on here Nugent has been a breath of fresh air, but people who are saying he is not here for the money he is!! He earns 25k a week and turned prem clubs down to come to us, so I would say he is here for the money. I'm not saying I dont like him cause of that because I love the bloke just thought I'll add that in.
acooling08 Posted 16 February 2012 Author Posted 16 February 2012 Nugent's second goal was brilliant: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17052979#asset
Houdini Logic Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Sven's signings were 50% dross and 50% excellent. Luckily it seems nigel has shipped out the majority of the dross
LCFC BEAST Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Nuge lives near me, my heart melts every time he drives past
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Nugent is a quality player. He reads the game brilliantly. and has a deadly boot.
MrFox781 Posted 16 February 2012 Posted 16 February 2012 Nuge lives near me, my heart melts every time he drives past Where the fvck do live? im coming over.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 He's on fire, and he moves through the night at the speed at light
acooling08 Posted 19 February 2012 Author Posted 19 February 2012 Davie Nugget is up to 13 now, do'ya think he'll hit the 20 mark?
Guest NGoloMode Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Well done to Sven for bringing him in but he dropped the ball with not signing Stacqualursi after his trial.
Happy Fox Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 The guy oozes class don't forget teams bid for £6m for him a while back he has prem class imo, same as Kasper and a few others in our team.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Hope we can keep the same team next season, unless pearson wants rid of players. Beckford and Nugent boding really well now. Beckfords flick and decoy run to open up the space for Nugent was class
Thracian Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 I think he is prolific and a very good striker, but I think he gets all the credit up front and Beckford gets nothing Beckford's had a lot of praise recently and deserves some more for what was effectively an assist yesterday. That was an outstanding off-the-ball run that created the space for Nugent's goal and the sort of run we badly missed in the first few months of the season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Beckford's had a lot of praise recently and deserves some more for what was effectively an assist yesterday. That was an outstanding off-the-ball run that created the space for Nugent's goal and the sort of run we badly missed in the first few months of the season. Bloody shame that the same strike force were playing together 'in the first few months of the season' and such runs were not apparent. If they were its probable we'd be further up the table. The two are playing closer together and finally seem to be reading each others game more. I want to see Beckford scoring more goals himself though. Fair play, he's come very close recently and hit the woodwork a few times now. If Nugent gets injured the goals could well dry up. Come on Jermaine... The effort is great. Now let's see you score a few before the seasons over because all the goals coming from one player spells trouble if that player gets injured or loses form.
