acooling08 Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 In what has been yet another season of disappointment (unless a miraculous run pushes us to the play offs or we go an extremely unlikely FA Cup run), I think we can all agree that one of the main positives has been David Nugent's performances and goals. Kudos to Sven for getting him for nothing (absolute steal). The best legacy of SGE imo. I think that Nugent is the best striker we have had at the club since Paul Dickov in his first spell for us almost a decade ago. I don't know the last striker to score 20 goals in a season for us (Dickov?) but Nuge may well do it this season. Nugent has a fantastic workrate and shows a lot of commitment and passion when he plays. But more importantly, he keeps popping up with goals, and I think he is one of the very few players in our squad who can produce a moment of PL quality out of nothing. Here is the top of the goalscoring table for this league season so far: 1 Rickie Lambert 16 Southampton 2 Ross McCormack 15 Leeds United 3 Jay Rodriguez 12 Burnley 3 David Nugent 12 Leicester City 3 Darius Henderson 12 Millwall 6 Robert Snodgrass 11 Leeds United 6 Michael Chopra 11 Ipswich Town 6 Billy Sharp 11 Southampton 9 Chris Wood 10 Bristol City 9 Guilherme Do Prado 10 Southampton 9 Ricardo Vaz Te 10 West Ham United 9 Kevin Phillips 10 Blackpool 9 Lukas Jutkiewicz 10 Middlesbrough 9 Charlie Austin 10 Burnley I didn't realise he was so far up the list. And that is without taking penalties as well. Well done Davie, I hope you stay with us for many seasons to come. If I were gay, you would definately be my man crush

Milton Keynes Fox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 I think he is prolific and a very good striker, but I think he gets all the credit up front and Beckford gets nothing
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 I think he is prolific and a very good striker, but I think he gets all the credit up front and Beckford gets nothing I second this
broughtonblue Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 I think when we had fryatt and Howard up front, if you had said 18 months later our strike force would be nugent and beckford the majority of people would have been very happy
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 He does what a striker is there for and is paid for... He scores goals. He also seems to have a great attitude. Nuff said
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Hope Nugent stays next season he plays his heart out (proven by celebrations) and is not here for the money
Kitchandro Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Our best outfield player by some distance this season.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 He's awful. All he does is score goals.
clare Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 I love how he always seems happy to be playing and plays with a smile on his face. He also runs his nuts off, performs consistently well, and is hitting the back of the net regularly. And as mentioned above, he has a great attitude. Great signing and hope he'll be here for a long time to come!
MrFox781 Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 He's awful. All he does is score goals. Agreed shocking player.
Guest ttfn Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 I think he is prolific and a very good striker, but I think he gets all the credit up front and Beckford gets nothing Probably because, despite Beckford's game being all about goalscoring and Nugent's not, Nugent has scored 4 times as many league goals this season.

Jace Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Great signing and a great striker I really rate Beckford too it will all come together we just need to be patient keep what good players we have and build on them
foxfanazer Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Absolutely love the guy, a very rare positive. On par with Kasper for signing of the season
StanSP Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 He was free, right? He's our version of Demba Ba for Newcastle
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Remember at the start of the season when we signed him people complaining etc Well guess what? He is above Maynard!!
Jace Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Remember at the start of the season when we signed him people complaining etc Well guess what? He is above Maynard!! And Sharp
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Good player and he is supposed to be the player up front who works hard but doesnt get many goals, just imagine if Beckford had started so much better.
Jace Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Whilst mentioning Sharp has anyone seen this today? Didn't think it should warrant its own thread pretty bang out of order Billy Sharp receiving abuse from a Doncaster Rovers fan and mocking the death of his kid on twitter http://www.thesun.co...-over-baby.html
Corky Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Proved to be far better than anticipated. One shining light in this mediocre season.
