Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 The ability to "speak English" should be a requirement Read English?
Corky Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 We could have Stuart Pearce. Or Steve Bruce. Let's do it!!
Leicesterpool Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 There simply isn't enough good english manager's left, the best one we've had since whose Brian Clough whose been dead eight years. Redknapp I don't like, however if you look at nearly all the clubs he's been at they've had big budgets meaning most of Redknapp's squad's are bought. Without a cheque book at a club he goes to, he's useless. I also think he's the blame for Portsmouth debts buying players like Jermaine Defoe, Peter Crouch...
Head Honcho Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Being able to speak English should be the bare minimum!!!
purpleronnie Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 I believe that the England manager should be English otherwise it defeats the whole point of international football. It's supposed to be about the best that your nation can produce vs the best that another nation can produce - that includes players and managers. I would rather try and fail with an English manager than succeed with a foreign manager. Imagine if we won the World Cup with a foreign manager in charge, it would not feel right. It would be like a hollow victory, it would be like we hadn't really won it because we had to use the talents of another country to win it for us. Thoughts? You don't have to worry about that happening.
Webbo Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 We could have Stuart Pearce. Or Steve Bruce. Let's do it!! Tbf our 2 foreign managers never achieved much either.
Saxondale Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 They should be a multi-coloured, bi-sexual hermaphrodite for ultimate equality. Lady Gaga wouldn't be interested.
Corky Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Tbf our 2 foreign managers never achieved much either. Sven probably took us to our level, Capello slightly under it. They did better than the last two English managers.
ozleicester Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 So the actuall manager would just be a manager in title only with the more experienced and better equiped called an 'assistant' just to aplease FIFA. What is the point in that? Much like our players, the coach would have the opportunity to learn and develop and tbh, i think there are managers in Australia that given the opportunity could handle the job. But apart from anything else.. thats EXACTLY the rule that players work under and we dont expect to be able to import players coz ours arent good enough.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 5 July 2012 Author Posted 5 July 2012 What was the reaction when the FA appointed Sven? (England's first ever foreign manager) Like what was the reaction in the press and media and among football fans in general?
