Guest ttfn Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 We should take Futacs from Pompey they need the money pronto. This is exactly the sort of suggestion that gets my goat. There seems to be a perception amongst many fans that if a player has a good game against us they must be worth buying. Futacs was ok (no better) against us at the KP and I didn't see the game at Fratton Park. But once a seed of seeing a guy perform once or twice is planted, people buy that tiny sample as being definitive proof that the player is a class act. The same thing happened with Mills. Reading fans warned us what he was like. But we'd seen him a couple of times at the Walkers and a couple of times on TV and were convinced he was good. There are plenty of other recent examples of this as well. Futacs has 3 in 20 for Pompey this season for Christ's sake

Guest ttfn Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 i didn't say he was f**king fantastic but he is a far better sight than Howard still young and has potential. But we don't need someone "better than Howard". We need some quality. Besides your assertion that he'd be better than Howard is pure speculation.
Happy Fox Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 But we don't need someone "better than Howard". We need some quality. Not really we just need a mobile target man who can score goals and provide assists, I cannot think of to many alternatives which are the real deal, all the suggestions would cost too much money, Futacs isn't the answer but he is cheap, ideally we could get Rodriguez, Rhodes type player here. Besides your assertion that he'd be better than Howard is pure speculation.
Corky Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 He's not good enough, if we want to be challenging for promotion next season.
robbieLOVESthealmightylcfc Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 i fvucking love ste not gonna lie.
Tommeh Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 I love the guy haven't got a bad word to say about him he has been a brilliant player for Leicester player and should finish A Leicester play he come on for 10 15 mins normally apart from yesterday and normally changes the game... Doesn't score really anymore obviously but sets up goals and is a pain for defenders to deal with Yep completely agree. Been a good servant to this club during difficult few seasons, find it sad so many fans ignore this, I include Lloyd Dyer in this also. Will never forget Steve's shift in the semi at Cardiff.
fleckneymike Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 15 goals in 101 Championship games since he joined us. 53 shots 6 goals 0 assists 65 fouls first Championship season 53 shots 5 goals 3 assists 55 fouls second Championship season 50 shots 4 goals 3 assists 28 fouls third Championship season (stop me if you spot a pattern) 12 shots 0 goals 3 assists 15 fouls fourth Championship season He is, was and has been shit. He is emblematic of why we're mediocre.

He is emblematic of why we're mediocre. I did try to say earlier that his goals tally is horrendous for Leicester. Although I didn't realise it was this bad. Look at Vassells too.. That makes interesting reading. Yet Big Steve remains a legend for many? 'Work rate' seems to define a top striker in the eyes of many Leicester city fans. And again shows just how easily pleased so many have become with the strikers we have had or have. In fact, the most prolific over recent seasons is the one who routinely received the most abuse. One Matty Fryatt to be precise.
carlhltid Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 i do like howard but ime afraid to say hes a league 1 player now he would do well there
fleckneymike Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 hes a target man not a goal scorer, he provides goals and supports the other striker. i like the way you missed out his goals in league 1 too... I missed them out because we aren't playing in League One so the fact he scored against Hereford United is not very relevant. He has been consistently crap at Championship level since joining us for £1.5 million pounds. He offers no support to the other striker and his sum contribution is as follows, get caught offside, foul opponent, slap thigh and scuff shot well wide.

Like Waggy , no but in all seriousness Beckford is getting slagged of mostly for his work rate or could it be that he isn't banging in the goals , their weren't any complaints when the Yak who apparently epitomized laziness yet still scored a reasonable amount of goals in his spell here.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Its time for him to move on, lets get a better target man this summer.
Simmo86 Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Awful, truly truly awful! 1.5 million for a bloke who scored a few goals in League 1 Shows what a pathetic state we're in when he's coming on to try and change a game for us!
LCFCCHRIS Posted 11 March 2012 Author Posted 11 March 2012 I don't understand these constant complaints... Why make yourself miserable all the time... Have a quick moan & move on Yesterday we managed 1 shot on target in the first half & that came just before half time, Howard came on and within 10mins we'd had 5 further shots on target... Sadly reading ripped us to bits with their teamplay which is something we need to emulate next season consistently,as we've only (very) intermittently hit those heights Back on to Howard... It's not like he's first pick is it & keeping the super high scoring Beckford out the team is it? He was bought on to do a job & initially it worked before we were undone by a better side... That's not Howard's fault is it? Have a moan... move on I wasn't moaning, I actually think Howard is a good player, but only to bring on from the bench for some experience.

Why do you do this? Attempt to make an argument without reading? This is exactly what I'm saying... The Yak was ridiculed for his lack of effort whilst still scoring goals, while Beckford has not been slagged particularly BECAUSE of his work rate, whilst NOT scoring goals. Therefore, our fans are more happy with a striker who 'tries hard' rather than one who actually scores goals. This is why Nugent is priceless.. He does both.. And we need another one.

LCFCCHRIS Posted 11 March 2012 Author Posted 11 March 2012 Haha out of context a good player but only to bring on.. When we are winning 3-0 (can't see it this season)

Just another Hume situation, 90% of our fans we prefer to see someone run about like a headless chicken rather than score goals. Bloody backwards

I was in agreeance with you just saying that you can be lazy and still do the goods on the pitch you just need to be in the right place at the right time which the Yak was i.e a goal poacher and this is what I hoped Beckford would be for us I have seen glimpses of it but nothing on a great scale.
fleckneymike Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Of his 15 goals in 101 Championship games, would anyone like to hazard a guess as to how many of those were scored with his head? Remember he's a great target man when making your guess.

Remember he's a great target man when making your guess. As far as I'm concerned Big Steve was signed EXACTLY to score goals and fair play to him, he did this well when at Derby. I would imagine he's scored Fook all with his head since joining City? I may be wrong on this but I don't think so?
