Not a Normal Killing

Do you get a boner from trying to shock people?

You can't seriously question why people think you're a tool when you make posts like this.

Let me re-word. I do not mean that people of Asian ethnicity are not civilised. I only meant that people living in Asia aren't as civilised as the west. That's a fact as well, not racism. India is getting there, so is China; but the majority of the middle east is still uncivilised.

Watched a program about wolves last night. It was in the USA but forget which state it was, anyway there was lots of hills and snow.

The reporter and the team were following a pack of wolves and one had lost his mate. The team that was monititoring them spoke to farmers and hunters in a nearby town and they said if they came near their livestock they would kill them. One pro-hunter showed pictures of stags killed by wolves and said he wanted to see all wolves wiped out.

My point here is there are different views about wild animals. In the film one side was trying to save what they thought was an endangered animal they others wanted to wipe them out.

With regards to cows, pigs, chickens etc if we did not breed them to eat there would be little space for them as their feilds would be taken up by crops and they would be too expensive to keep. On the whole they do exist in better conditions than they did in the past. Little comfort I know when on the way to a slaughterhouse.

I am against killing animals for ivory fur coats and trophys etc to satisfy the money-grabbing rich Survival yes. Profit and self gratifying no.

Probably Idaho or Wyoming. Ranchers hate wolves because they sometimes kill livestock (even though the ranchers are compensated for it)

And hunters hate wolves because they kill the deer and elk that hunters would like to be killing themselves. Unbelievable, but true. In Idaho hunters and ranchers have successfully campaigned for a wolf cull and so the government have been shooting them from helicopters.

In Yellowstone they've found that since they reintroduced wolves, ecosystems are thriving again. Seems like a no-brainer to me to leave wolves alone, but there's no longer enough unpopulated land for them to live on without running into a few gun toting rednecks

I disagree. A few skyscrapers and lots of shiny cars and jewels does not make a country civilised. We are no more civilised than anyone else in my opinion. If we read news from all over the UK, Europe and the US then we can easily see that we are no more civilised than anywhere else. Certainly not socially, morally or culturally anyway.

Dunno about "civilised" but Asian countries generally have a poor regard for animal welfare. Tiger farms in China, bear bile in Vietnam, dolphin slaughter in Japan, palm oil plantations in Indonesia, shark finning just about everywhere. If you're an animal in Asia, you're fair game so to speak. I think attitudes are slightly more advanced in the UK, probably coz we realised we've already killed everything

Yes the UK has done their fair share of whale hunting etc, now calling other countries inhumane for doing it. A few years back people in the 'society' class thought nothing to having an elephant umbrella rack or a tiger's head on a wall. Even the lords in their manor houses frown upon it now and fake stoles are the in thing for the Lady's.

I would call you stupid, I'd say you're as dense as a neutron star but judging by this comment, that might be understating things a tad.

The concept of a society being civilised is entirely subjective.

I totally agree with your sentiments regarding the trade in animal parts.

It's the apathy that gets me. In our lifetime we'll see big cats, great apes, rhinos etc disappear in the wild or be penned into small reserves. Most people seem unaware of this, or shrug their shoulders and say it's human nature to kill stuff.

Sure it's great that most of us are having healthier and wealthier lives, but it comes at the expense of just about every other living thing on the planet.

Apart from cats, who are fvcking loving it. Pampered little shits.

If that article is right, when the Chinese have finished off the rhinos they'll be coming for your moggys. Better lock them up quick

Oh, I don't have cats - If they think I'm going to look after them, then they can whistle.

I just think they're a lot cooler than dogs.

Who won?

The dogs fvcking won, that's who.

Yeah, but at least the cat doesn't have to worry about Yuki.

Edit: that's another Asian atrocity I should have added to the list

The memorial to the last wolf killed in Britain. http://lastwolf.net/2.html

Interesting. There's a millionaire called Paul Lister in Scotland who has been buying up large tracts of land with the intention of fencing it and releasing wolves, bears and lynx. He's trying to restore the landscape to how it used to be.

It'll be great for tourism, at least until the first rambler gets taken out by a grizzly

all the more reason to reintroduce them (the Grizzlies that is).

Has anyone defined what a "normal" killing is yet?

I think we should find some kind of starting point we can all agree on.

i think the general understanding is killing for food/survival is sort of acceptable or "normal" , but for sport, vanity , or solely for a part of the animal ( tusk , horn etc) it's not , but I don't think there can be a hard and fast rule to suit everyone.

What use would a sheep be to a farmer if he had to use the grazing land as crops? They can't be kept as pets. Well not a whole flock of them in one living room.

So killing for musical intolerance isn't normal then? :(
