Jon the Hat Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Isn't it funny how our media spends so much time telling us how terrible it is that other cultures have terrible practices which are inhuman! The backward evil nasty to little fluffy animals THEM! On another note, Australia has the Kangaroo and the Emu on it;s national crest, and its people eat them both. Nice one!
Finnegan Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I love that OzFox uses an episode of South Park that mocks Westerners for their hypocrisy regarding animal slaughter to take a dig at Asia. Superb.
OzFox Posted 8 November 2012 Author Posted 8 November 2012 I love that OzFox uses an episode of South Park that mocks Westerners for their hypocrisy regarding animal slaughter to take a dig at Asia. Superb. Nope. It was posted because it was amusing at the time. And I'm pretty sure it's mocking everybody's attitude toward animal slaughter. Isn't it funny how our media spends so much time telling us how terrible it is that other cultures have terrible practices which are inhuman! The backward evil nasty to little fluffy animals THEM! On another note, Australia has the Kangaroo and the Emu on it;s national crest, and its people eat them both. Nice one! What's our media supposed to do...ignore it to make you feel better? What's going on in Africa & Asia has already happened in our backyards, noone is denying that. The point is we're supposedly advanced enough now to know better. You must be a Japanese fisheries minister. They love to bring up the kangaroo thing too. And they've got a point. Please don't tell them about the emus.
OzFox Posted 8 November 2012 Author Posted 8 November 2012 The only solution to your concerns is for you not to breed, and to find others like you and convince them not to breed. Please. For the sake of all of us!! I'd prefer it if you volunteered not to breed. I quite enjoy trying.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 This makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. Vile and evil. Just about sums up, most of mankind.
Jon the Hat Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I'd prefer it if you volunteered not to breed. I quite enjoy trying. Ah I see! Overpopulation is everyone elses responsibilty! Thanks for clearing that up. In the meantime Australia continues to export live animals to be butchered in inhumane ways in the Middle East, but feels free to criticise the Japanese for Hunting Whales.

I'm sure he doesn't condone that either.
flowwolf Posted 9 November 2012 Posted 9 November 2012 Backward Continent backward countries backward people. If knowledge is every thing they have nothing. And I am constantly being told I am part of one big human family, include me out.

And I am constantly being told I am part of one big human family, include me out. Unsurprisingly, this post doesnt make sense, i would love some explanation? Backward continent? - Are you referring to continental drift? Backward countries? - You do understand that Australia is just one country dont you? Backward people? - I assume you mean upside down, but either way showing your ignorance and stupidity, whilst trying to denigrate others is, i imagine, quite embarrassing. Sadly, every family has its weird uncle and much as we would all prefer to say "hes not with us"... deep down we know he is and we are responsible for him

"Australia" does not support live export... any more than Britain supports the war in Afghanistan, increased university fees etc etc.

I thought that was the threads subject.
OzFox Posted 9 November 2012 Author Posted 9 November 2012 Ah I see! Overpopulation is everyone elses responsibilty! Thanks for clearing that up. In the meantime Australia continues to export live animals to be butchered in inhumane ways in the Middle East, but feels free to criticise the Japanese for Hunting Whales. As Mark_w pointed out, I don't condone that either. And by the way, you're quoting the live export story brought to us by an Australian media outlet. The same media you think are unfairly criticising other cultures. I don't see why any of our media should refrain from criticising the actions of foreign individuals and governments just because a few of them might get upset. You might think gunning down whole elephant herds with AKs and rockets is normal and beyond reproach. I don't, and neither do most media outlets. Sorry my mistake I was referring to Africa where the poaching of Ivory and other rare animals is still going on. I thought that was the threads subject. You're right, it is/was. To be fair to the locals, many of them are as upset by the slaughter of their animals we are. The poachers though can make a small fortune from one elephant tusk or rhino horn so they're not going to stop as long as the demand is there. Asian governments haven't done enough yet to reduce the demand and the organisation tasked with combatting the trade, CITES, is overwhelmed, understaffed and probably corrupt. A few years ago they made the mistake of legalising an amount of rhino horn to be traded in China, but all it did was send a message to people that it was ok again to use rhino horn
Jon the Hat Posted 9 November 2012 Posted 9 November 2012 I'm not necessarily picking out Aussie media, Western media in general loves a story about foreigners doing terrible things.
OzFox Posted 10 November 2012 Author Posted 10 November 2012 I'm not necessarily picking out Aussie media, Western media in general loves a story about foreigners doing terrible things. No but you love having a poke at Aussie's animal rights record. Like I give a flying fvuk as an Englishman. And if our media didn't cover animal atrocities in asia, who would? The locals aren't exactly tripping over themselves to advertise dolphins culls, bear bile farms etc
OzFox Posted 10 November 2012 Author Posted 10 November 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eScDfYzMEEw Carlin has done some funny stuff in his time, but most of what he says there is ignorant, outdated crap.
Webbo Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eScDfYzMEEw I actually agree with a lot of that. I still don't find him funny though.
OzFox Posted 5 February 2013 Author Posted 5 February 2013 Four heavily armed guards on 24hr watch over already hornless rhinos. The world really has gone bonkers. An anti-poaching team guards a northern white rhino, part of a 24-hour watch, at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya last July. The park is home to four of the world's remaining eight northern white rhinos.

Its not a personal watch, its a watch for 4 of the worlds LAST 8. Its kinda a big deal
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 You lot really do astound me. There's stuff like this going on in the world http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jan/25/algeria-hostage-crisis-death-toll And you think the worlds gone bonkers because someone's dehorned a rhino, Really need to grow up and open your eyes.

I see meaningless death for crappy reasons in both incidents.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 I see meaningless death for crappy reasons in both incidents. If I was going to use one of those for an example of the ills of the world at this moment in time I know which one I would choose. Some people need to get their priorities striaght,

Some people need to get their priorities striaght, Fair enough. In my opinion slaughtering a helpless and rare creature in order to satsify a greedy mans pointless desire for a trophy/longer erection and a bunch of religious nutjobs slaughtering unarmed and innocent humans in the name of their 'God' shows equal amounts of sadism, inhumanity and ignorance. Humans aren't special - we're just another product of the evolutionary process. But, at the same time, we're one of the few species on this planet that has the ability to protect other species, if we make the choice to do so.
