Fox92 Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 And you can't park within a mile and a half.or so i heard. You can't! I've been on FoxTravel once, but my other visits, we have to park under some motorway. A fair walk away.

Jace Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 I've not been there before but how have they ended up with no parking there if its in the middle of no where!? I would of guessed that would be the only positive thing they could do by building it out of the city is be able to create a lot of parking but they haven't even done that? mental.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 There are bus links from Coventry bus station but it's a bit of a ball ache. I'm just glad we never built our new ground so far out of town, it would have been just as disastrous. I have a feeling we were offered some land on which to build the new stadium at one point, not far away from where the Marriott now stands.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 Are Coventry the biggest club in League One?
Guest Bilo Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 Yes they are. After Sheffield United. And Portsmouth. And Preston. And Notts County. Fifth biggest club in the third tier of English football. PUSB.
Guest MattP Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 We miss Filbert Street but they must absolutely lament the loss of Highfield Road. Great point, remember how good the atmposhere used to be at the Coventry - Leicester games back then as well? Was a highlight of the year, 4,000 of us in that shithole down the side, 2,000 of there vocal lot behind the goal, it was electric. People who have only been to the Ricoh would think I'm making it up.

Guest Bilo Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 I would say they are the 3rd biggest club in League One after Portsmouth and Sheffield United. My tongue wasn't far away from my cheek there. I actually agree with that for the record, they are one of the bigger names in that division which won't help them one bit.

Had they kept that ground, it may have actually made it a decent little rivalry and an away trip to look forward to rather than the chore it has become.

Completely agree, early kick offs now as well kill it even more, couldn't beat it when the chill and dark set in around 4pm at Highfield Road. Still made me laugh how they had the supporters seperated by the disabled section in the corner.

Runiing the gauntlet of hate through the centre was great fun after too. Great days

No wonder so many Coventry don't bother any more, such a comedown from those days.

There's a video on YouTube of a fight between Coventry and Portsmouth fans with the disabled section right in the firing line.
