Corky Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 Well it's like "Nigel Pearson, Nigel Pearson he used to be s h i t e but now he's alright, walking in a Pearson wonderland" Oh right, like "eieieio up the football league we go we're the left side who are ya?"?
Daggers Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 They've no sense of humour there have they? Pretty sure we reacted better than that in 2008. Pretty sure most of us didn't; I remember deleting thread after post after thread.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 I've obviously just seen the posts where we didn't turn into whiny little bitches then. It is a lot funnier when it isn't you though isn't it?
Kitchandro Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 Now I've been banned I wouldn't mind but all I was doing was talking like they do
Corky Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 What do we reckon today everyone? Go out with a bang and prevent the Saints going up? Or slide down with a whimper or severe beating?
Fox92 Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 What do we reckon today everyone? Go out with a bang and prevent the Saints going up? Or slide down with a whimper or severe beating? Coventry already relegated, go out with no pressure and win at Southampton, who are under pressure chasing promotion. I can see it now! Coventry to win is 9/1.
Corky Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 They've lost 15 away games this season though, and Southampton have swept aside most at St Mary's. Saints to win 3-0.

Corky Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 "Yeah, Crawley away on Tuesday night" They are at Southampton today.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Hoping for a fun day (or evening) out at the Rickety Arena with the Bournemouth massive next season. Fun, fun. fun.
Corky Posted 31 July 2012 Posted 31 July 2012 Lost heavily at Wrexham tonight, fourth defeat in pre-season.
Leicesterpool Posted 31 July 2012 Posted 31 July 2012 Lost heavily at Wrexham tonight, fourth defeat in pre-season. Just mentioned on the championship topic, it's just getting better and better.
Matt Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Coventry City could face court over Ricoh Arena rent bill The company that owns the Ricoh Arena has said it could take Coventry City football club to court over an unpaid rent bill of about £500,000. The club stopped paying its £100,000 a month rent to Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) in April. It said because of relegation to League One plus an expected reduction in revenues, the current rent is too high. ACL has said it will take measures to protect its interests which includes "appropriate legal action". Talks had been under way between the club and ACL to try to re-negotiate the rent since the end of last season. ACL said it would continue talks with the club "to try to find a sustainable way forward." Coventry City football club has said it does not want to comment due to the ongoing negotiations which are "commercially sensitive." The 32,000-capacity venue is owned by Coventry City Council and charity the Alan Higgs Trust, but is run by ACL. It became the venue for Coventry City's home games at the beginning of the 2005-06 season. The venue has also hosted Olympic football for the London 2012 games, for which it was re-named the City of Coventry stadium.
Jace Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Oh dear Coventry if they are not prepared to pay rent at the Ricoh then where else would they be prepared to play? Suppose the council won't have anyone else they can rent the stadium out to either so no doubt they will give in eventually to their demands

Guest Bilo Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 I'm sure I read somewhere that the stadium owners actually make more money from concerts and the like than they do from CCFC, but they'll come to some sort of agreement. It's pretty clear though that the Ricoh Arena is the worst thing that's happened to Coventry City, complete white elephant that must embarrass Coventry fans when visitors see the swathes of empty seats and whole corners closed down. We miss Filbert Street but they must absolutely lament the loss of Highfield Road.

Suppose the council won't have anyone else they can rent the stadium out to either so no doubt they will give in eventually to their demands Think they could easily make money out of it. They've got a casino there (G Casino run the casino so presumably G Casino pay rent), they have a hotel there, they have a few exhibition halls, they have concerts there, could quite easily be turned into something like the NEC, a rival to the NEC. They could take or leave the football imo.

Our first two seasons at the KP saw us average 29k and 30k, and since then we've mainly averaged between 21k and 24k. They weren't filling Highfield Road so building a ground miles away with more seats was not the wisest move.

Add to that being out of the city, in the middle of nowhere, with no pubs nearby, no transport links such as a nearby train station and just off a dual carriageway
Corky Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Add to that being out of the city, in the middle of nowhere, with no pubs nearby, no transport links such as a nearby train station and just off a dual carriageway It just looks a nonsensical decision now.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Add to that being out of the city, with no pubs nearby, no transport links such as a nearby train station and just off a dual carriageway There is a new station being built there apparently, but it won't be ready for a couple of years at least. The location of it is absolutely awful, last time I went there were Leicester fans going into Tesco and Pizza Hut for pre-match drinks such was the dearth of pubs nearby. I imagine it would be a test of loyalty to go there every other week if your team was good; but with Coventry veering between mediocre and atrocious in that time I salute anyone who maintains a season ticket there, it's no wonder they're down to about 15,000 fans there.
