Something about Coventry deliberately playing for a draw in the early 70s to save their own skin and send Sunderland down when Old Chin was their manager.

There not coming back for a while, can't see it. I think Cov next season in League one there will finish more mid table, Pompey might bounce straight back up, Donny the same as cov. Will Andy Thorn remain?

I don't knwo if it's been posted above but my dad has told me why Sunderland hate Cov. Basically in 1977 Cov and Bristol City played for a draw to relegate Sunderland. Sunderland were losing elsewhere and Cov/BC only needed a point to stay up so both teams basically stood there with the ball waiting for the whistle.

Also, Jimmy Hill who was chairman of Cov, delayed the start of the match by 15 mins due to "crowd trouble". Then after finding Sunderland had lost to Everton - meaning Cov and Bristol only needed a draw - announced the result over the loud speaker and then both Cov and Bristol basically gave up and didn't try so they both survived at Sunderlands expense.

That is a bit unfair tbh I can see why Sunderland would be upset by that! Quite a long time ago though!

Small club. No fans. Nobody remembers them in the Premier League. Nobody will miss them in the Championship. Nobody will care about them in League 1. The end.

From the Deputy Chairman:

If that it a widely held belief then there will be problems.

We didn't go into that season thinking we'd be the main scalp, because we weren't. And anyway, it's not something to boast about.

I feel sorry for Andy Thorn though, had a tough job on his hands, got rid of a few of there good players and then doesn't get anything to replace them with.

Read a few of the threads lol

it's not there owners fault

Not renewing the season tickets

Some person said he would not pay to watch them while the owners are in charge, jesus christ loyal supporter lol

looking at the club statement it hints that Thorn's future is uncertain. To be honest doesn't deserve to be sacked he's playing a youth squad week in week out. However if there looking to bounce back to the championship straight away they need to get somebody who knows league one like the back of his hand. I know we had Pearson who never managed in the third tier of football but he had a cheque book, plus a few good championship players. Cov have just got a youth squad with an empty wallet, for them I'd recommend Phil Brown. More than likely who they can just about afford, Davies would be there best choice but can you really see him turning up Cov I mean really.

Fingers crossed they stick with Thorn so they won't bounce straight back up :P

Not really that bothered to be honest. They've been a nothing club for years.

Just glad its another shite away day off the calendar.
