This has come as quite a shock to me, obviously I hope there are as few fatalities as possible, as we all do.

One of my friends has just pointed out that something like this offers a small glimpse, of what it must be like to live in Baghdad. After all, most people in this country only have a vague idea of terrorists as foreigners, primarily Arabs. You can only imagine what it must be like to live through a concerted bomb attack from a foreign army.

Six bombs are terrorism, hundreds of bombs are a military operation authorised by a democratic government.

I've never felt that strongly about the war before but some of the hypocrisy makes me sick.

Good posts, I agree. Makes you sick.

I really hope this isn't to distract the emergency services before attacking somewhere which is unreachable due to the gridlock traffic.

That's what i fear though :(

Aram sources that monitor Al Queda, have said that it's almost certainly Al Queda attacking us :(

Bollox, I hope not.

Ric - do you reckon they might have detonated the 'big bombs' by now to get the maximum carnage?

133556[/snapback]

Not sure, I hope that there are no bigger bombs but it seems to me that if Al Queda were going to bomb London they would go for maximum carnage with huge bombs. So whether that means this is the start of what's to come, I don't know.

It doesn't look good.

It appears melodramatic but I can see where you're coming from. This is a different kind of terrorism to that which London got used to in the 80s from the IRA. There don't seem to have been any warnings, nor any effort to minimise the amount of deaths. This is not an attempt at disruption but an attempt to take lives. However, with the increased level of security since September 11th (perhaps even greater again at this time due to the G8 summit and success of the Olympic bid, who knows?), perhaps any terrorist organisation felt that attacks on this scale were all that was possible.

Tell me about it, that's what I think. Maximum chaos with small bombs and then blitz somewhere else. Shit, this is nasty.

Well they're almost certain it's al queda, and they don't try to cause simply disruption, they go for maximum fatalities.

I'm very very worried.

surely this is a clear case of Extreme fundamentalists of an Al-Qaeda type basically saying, well done on getting the Olympics, this is a taste of whats to follow, whether these sporadic bombings will be a warning or a taster of a BIG attempt, then we will never know

This could be a warning from them to say how easily they can do something like this - with high security about, and hopefully there will be no more explosions today.

The security after this will be upped ten fold though so Al-Queda has probably had their best chance today. We've combated about 2 or 3 attempts previously, so we are usually pretty tight with these things.

I fear today is the day they'll want to make their mark.

Just think if this had happened yesterday with all those people gathered for the Olymic result!

Confirmed on Five Live. Also very strong rumours that it's Al Queda, not been confirmed yet but reports suggest it is from things they've heard.

Yes, as I posted earlier, Arab sources say it's almost certainly them.

Also a statement by Al Queda/Jihad in Europe on a website has been found, where they claim responsibility.

Fricking hell this is shocking.

I fear this is not the end if its Al Queda they like to do things big. I feel that they are distracting the Police , Ambulance and Fire Services and then they are going to attack somewhere else but with more power

Whoever is responsible is evil, and deserves to be ripped limb from limb.

All this speculation is exactly what they want; that's how panic is created.

Alright, so they've broken through and hit us, but they won't win, and I hope that we don't get any more days like this.

I feel sickened, and I'm upset, but I won't give any terrorist the satisfaction of scaring me.

sadly they terrorists, whoever they are, only need to be lucky once and our fantasticly trained police need to be lucky all the time. big up to them

Posted

you know if the main person behind this was caught by british police, what would you want to happen to them?

remember, i know what most of you said/ganged up against my views of a death penalty, don't be hypocritical in your answer

This is truly awful, I have been out and come back and all this has happened. According to Sky news there are about 150 seriously injured so far and they arent sure how many dead. I pray this is the end of it although this is bad enough. :( I hope everyone stays safe.
