shen Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Shocking news and scenes! I really hope the casualties stay minimal, and my condolences to anyone directly affected by this. The terrorist organisation taking responsibility for it are targetting Denmark and Italy as the next areas in the future, so people up here are a bit nervous...
Katy Posted 7 July 2005 Author Posted 7 July 2005 Another thing which is quite upsetting is on Sky there is a ticker going along the bottom of screen saying who is safe and people asking people to contact them, I cant imagine what people are going through, its scary, horrible and sickening.
Hitesh Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Crazy whats goin on down there! My dad and cousin are down there and thankfully they are ok, but apparently it is chaos and a lot of people are panicing. Which is understandable. They might not be able to get home tonight and i do feel for the thousands of workers who could be stranded in london. I just hope that the government crack down even more on terrorism!
Knighton Matt Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Confirmed that the explosion on the bus was a suicide bomber 133590 Bloody hell Where did you hear that? 133591 Confirmed on Five Live. Also very strong rumours that it's Al Queda, not been confirmed yet but reports suggest it is from things they've heard. 133607 Yes, as I posted earlier, Arab sources say it's almost certainly them. Also a statement by Al Queda/Jihad in Europe on a website has been found, where they claim responsibility. 133611 this is the translation on the bbc website. makes you sick... "In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him. Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters. We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid. We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused. God says: "You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly."

How can murdering and maming innocent people make things better in any way?

What a justification that is. I sincerely hope that non-Muslims keep their wits, as most Muslims do not condone the actions of these 'people', and will be as sickened and upset as the rest of us.
Babylon Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters. You wish matey.... Stop all your sneaky tactics and lets have a proper war, then lets see who is burning with fear.
Ric Flair Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 If I could get my hands on whoever did this i'd stick a coat hanger down there japseye and really mess the ****ers up. This is harrowing and reading that nearly made me cry, awful. The death toll is going up as we speak it will be over 50 by the end of the day.
shack Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 I fear that anyone who looks like a muslim might get the backlash all over the country - y'know how some people react to this kind of thing...tar everyone with the same brush. I just hope we can get a bit of control on it early doors.

Everybody is panicking at the minute, hopefully it will die down and people don't get angry and take it out on innocent people. London is such a multi-cultural place just like Leicester is, I think everyone all feels the same at the minute and it's 'we're all in this together' not us against them type of thing.

I know a lot of Muslims got victimised after 9/11 simply for being Muslim and would never condone the acts of then or todays. I would hope people would have some restraint but theres always a few and grief can do strange things to people. Just heard on Sky news that they are unable to confirm the amount of people dead on the bus that blew up, I dont need to go into details why do I
Wilson Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Interesting to see how different rumours travel round, did a building actually fall down in the end?
shack Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 I was just thinking this. I know a lot of Muslims got victimised after 9/11 simply for being Muslim exactly - and that was in the USA let alone as near as London.
Molson Canadian Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 i'd have to say the uk gives too many rights to new people coming into the country... it seems like anyone can claim political asylum and stay in the uk.... i'm not targeting any particular groups but i must say that some people who do come into the uk tend to take advantage of the rights they are given compared to the rest. THe uk is going to strengthen there policy on just taking in almost anyone...with that policy terrorists will not come into the county as easily it is almost certain now that al queda has taken responisbilty for the london bombings and there is no doubt that members of that group most probobly came into the UK like millions of others each year and were able to slip through the cracks i'm sorry to say this but i think this should be a big wake up call too all of us not just the people of the UK that we need to take bigger measures against terrorism even if the measures seem harsh and unjust it has to be done because terrorists don't play by the rules and if we play by the rules they will just keep on doing what they do

What has that to do with terrorism? I miss a link here, dip...
Matt Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 33 Confimed deaths. It may have some bearing on what happened but can't believe people are linking this with us winning the olympic bid - This thing doesn't just happen, this thing would have been planned for ages, maybe whoever/wherever won the olympics they may have sent bombs into that city but I really don't see how the olympics bid can be blamed! I actually thought on Saturday what would happen if terrorism kicked off at Live 8, I was only thinking - What if? At the time, but I thought it would be a prime target. So it is quite scary now it has happened! I don't know why I thought it, it was just a thought I had - 3 years since 9/11 I guessing something would happen soon, and here it is... Apparently (At work) there was a bomb being sent to Coventry, A bus on the way to Coventry had a bomb on it but luckly they found it and stopped the bus asap.
Matt Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Kind of good news - Some things are getting back to normal, Traffic in some parts is moving fairly freely and the first train has just got on the move! Not good news in the fact people have died and people are seriously injured but its good to see things getting back to normal even if they are just little things!

You are right though Matt, this would have been planned meticulously and well in advance just like 9/11, I think people were thinking it could be olympic related when the details were sketchy this morning. No one has officially admitted responsibilty yet though have they?
john_lcfc Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 i am shaken as i was at king cross underground station on saturday travveling to baker street for the cricket and now seeing the scene where i walked at the weekend covered in emergency service vehicles and there were many deaths there.
toonboy Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 At least 37 dead now and possibly up to 800 injured. I was wondering why they would do it today? I would have thought their aim would either to be to kill as many people as possible or take out a significant building e.g Houses of Parliament. If they wanted to kill people why not do it at the weekend with Live8, G8 marches, Gay Pride etc. Obviously i'm glad more people aren't dead, it just seems odd to me. I hope people don't take this out on muslims, as they will be as appalled as everyone else. It just an extremly small number, who seem to go against everything islam stands for anyway. Lets just hope this doesn't happen again.
Fox Shagger Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Please see this, they don't even know for sure if Al-Qaeda are behind the attacks. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8496293/ See this site for other info: http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/

As I have said like you why didn't they do it last weekend? They could have caused more chaos, killed more people, and made more destruction thank god they didn't do it last weekend but you have to ask the question why? I said earlier I don't know why people are linking the win of our olympic bid with the terrorism but I just have a thought at the back of my mind they had this all set up and the winning city would have got the blast, but if my theory works out they must be bombs made in Paris, and the other city's around the world which I think would be to much hard work and too much to plan, e.t.c. My mum is blaming it on Bob Geldof and the protests against the G8 - but as we have discussed surly if it was that they would have done it on saturday this way they could have done it all around the world, they could have done more damage, they could have also took out Gay Pride marches, Cricket fans, and everyone going to Live 8, so that isn't a theory or any reason for blame IMO! More news on the bomb that was heading for Coventry - Apparently the bomb was found and it was a controlled explosion, which was good, Fosshill Road in Coventry is closed (Might have reopened by know) and Coventry airport and bus depot is closed (but they are probably both reopened now as well)
