mackiepas Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 We are always hearing our good our academy is so why are we not included in this new competition?
Carter The Boss Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 I don't know where I got it from but I thought we were, turns out we're not. Daily Mail article below if anyone fancies a read: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2183247/Barclays-Premier-League-Under-21-competition-confirmed.html
Libertine Dream Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Because its not as good as a lot of Premier League teams, or teams like Palace
Deucalion Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 I thought it was because the buildings necessary are not finished, so we are starting in cat 1 next year. We are in an under 21 league, but not the 'big' leagues. If you look at group 3 I think it is, it has one less team than the others. I'm guessing this was our place.
Captain... Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 So does that mean another year without a reserve team of any sort?
Ashley Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 We didn't apply for the Academy this year because everything wasn't in place for us to do so e.g. The teachers and extra coaches that are needed should we have applied this year and got rejected we would of had to wait another three years before applying. We will apply next year
Leicfox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Were league 2 in this.. League 2: North Division Barnsley Birmingham City Coventry City Crewe Alexandra Derby County Huddersfield Town Leeds United Leicester City F.C. Nottingham Forest Sheffield United Sheffield Wednesday Wigan South Division Barnet Brentford Brighton and Hove Albion Bristol City Cardiff City Charlton Athletic Colchester United Ipswich Town Millwall Q.P.R. Swansea City
Guest MattP Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 We are always hearing our good our academy is so why are we not included in this new competition? It's only people here who rave about our academy. In reality we haven't produced a decent Preniership player for years.
Jace Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 We don't need a good academy anyway as long as Man United's is alright

jamesmilner Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 As for the " we didn't apply " quote !, we did, but we're not graded high enough due to bad organisation . We will apply AGAIN next season after we've had the work done that'll bring us up to standard ! We really did mess up on this badly , it has put us back !
JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Our academy is actually quite bad, our last youth player to play premier league football was Richard Stearman at Wolves, and what a dirty bleeder he turned into! what is more surprising is that Forest are not in the top league, they had the likes of Ryan Bertrand to Chelsea, Lascelles almost to Spurs, Carrick, Jenas and Michael Dawson to Spurs. It really made me laugh when I saw that the FA rated their academy the same as ours, it definitely shut a few florists up

Also Bertrand was on loan from Chelsea when they had him wasn't he?
JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 I was told they were? If not than thanks for the update
dynamark Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 If that is the Bertrand who played for Ingerland last night he looked very very good ,cracking first touch, fast and strong.

Jenas went to Spurs via Newcastle first too
Grey Fox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 They had John Terry on loan for a bit, surprised they don't claim him as well.
JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 I thought Carrick was West Ham? Also Bertrand was on loan from Chelsea when they had him wasn't he? You are right! Sorry about that!
Grey Fox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Southampton seem to be quite good at producing young talent. Bale, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain spring to mind. Wish we could produce someone that good.
JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 , I was about to say. Jenas went to Spurs via Newcastle first too But he is a forest academy graduate and that was my point! Patrick Bamford is a forest graduate at Chelsea though right?
JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 I think I got Bertrand and Bamford mixed up! :$
Grey Fox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 But he is a forest academy graduate and that was my point! Patrick Bamford is a forest graduate at Chelsea though right? He is, but I thought we were talking about players who had established themselves in the prem? If he makes the first team, then I will count him.
