In the few games he played for City, I thought he had the ability to play regularly for a mid-table Premier League side. Perhaps others saw him as starting an England international within a few years?

Playing any sport at the top level is more than just natural ability: in my opinion, Cleverley must have the mental application and dedication necessary to go further. I now think he can, provided he keeps clear of injury – it’s his ability to carry the ball from defence to attack in particular that has recently impressed me. He’s only started a handful of games for Man Utd; I hope he keeps clear of injury this season so we can see him continue to improve.

Must admit I thought the same as you, reasonable premiership player, wouldn't get a game for ManUre. He had a good game last night though, definitely a good prospect.

I think Cleverly's attitude has got him a long way, hopefully he can now steer clear of injuries.

United fans said when we signed James that before James got injured they saw him and Cleverly as part of their future midfield, heres hoping.

He has only made it where he is today through sheer hard work and desire. Ferguson even said as much, by saying that Cleverley wasn't even close to the other lads in the youth set up etc, but the work, effort and training he put in, made him a better player, and a far superior player mentally than the others.

Hats off to the lad, he's evidence that hard work does, in fact, pay off

Reminds me a lot of Beckham, very determined and hard working, got plenty of ability but will end up more successful than his more naturally talented peers, because he will fight with every inch of his being to be successful.
