MooseBreath Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 http://www.guardian....tains-weathiest Who does this idiot think he's fooling? Nobody in their right mind would listen to a word this guy says about anything, least of all economic affairs where he has proven to be completely and utterly incompetent. The toad faced gimp really is an embarrasment to the country. Elections coming up? Oh quick better get everyone back on board again, let's attack the rich some more, yay that'll get me some votes. HUM DUM INEQUALITY HUM DUM DIS IZ SOOOO BAD HEY YOU GUISE I CAN HELP YOU GET RICHER BY TAXING THE RICH PLS VOTE FOR ME YOURS SINCERELY NICKY CLEGGY. Yeah how about no, Nick. How about you actually say something, SOMETHING, ANYTHING, that actually means something instead of this mouldy, stinking crap over and over again. I'm overcome by the stench of rot and disease every time he speaks. It's as if as soon as he opens his mouth a giant green cloud of poisonous illuminous green ammonia launches out from his throat like a great ball of fire and encapsulates the entire area around him. People literally fall over, vomiting, all around him. Does he think we're all idiots? Does he realise that, 1) we know those polocies don't work; and 2) we know you won't even try to put them in place anyway because he is a disgraceful little liar? Seriously, why doesn't this tosser just **** off.
Daggers Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 ...a giant green cloud of poisonous illuminous green ammonia launches out from his throat... Ammonia is a colourless gas.
21st Century Fox Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I wouldn't get yourself worked up too much Moosey, I'm sure the general public pay about as much attention to what Clegg spouts as the FT populace does you.
Charl91 Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I hated Clegg before hating Clegg became cool. I feel a bit miffed that everyone has jumped on my bandwagon.
Captain... Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 It is not a bad idea, but nobody can take it seriously as he was part of the regime that lowered the upper limit of income tax, so now wanting to tax them again makes him look pretty clueless. Was it in america or in France when the richest volunteered to pay extra tax, can't remember where I read that, or maybe I dreamt that.

I think there were rumblings in both, quite a few philanthropists in the U.S. definitely did, Soros et al.

I believe Ken Bates and Sir Philip Green clubbed together and donated some old champagne bottles to be reused as candle holders in orphanages.
Daggers Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 1) we know those polocies don't work Oh come one - surely someone else giggled over this one, from the Mastoh Of Inlosh?
ADK Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Clegg gets a bad rep becasue the liberals do not have their own newspapers or backing from either the aristocracy (tories) or trade unions (labour). There's nothing wrong with the suggestions he makes in that article whatsoever.

No but how can you take him seriously when he backed the lowering of the highest level of income tax, which taxed the top earners, and then says, we should tax the top earners more. If the Liberal Democrats want to salvage anything they need to ditch Clegg and break up the coalition, they pretty much went back on everything they said they stood for in exchange for a referendum on voting reform, that they lost, and HoL reform that is not going to happen.
Guest MattP Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Clegg's main problem was that the Liberals seriously underperformed at the Election considering the percentages of support the media supposedly claimed they had had, that left him far far weaker than what he was expecting in terms of bargaining power and he ended up having to settle for his pisspoor little referendum on AV and a small tax boost for the poor. Not to mention it's easy to make promises you know you can't keep ie; student fees when you won't be elected. And we all know his other option of propping up Gordon Brown as Prime Mininter would have left him looking twice the idiot he does at the minute. If he wanted to save his political career he could even switch to the Conservatives now, in a country where politics is fairly boring now that would be worth seeing.

I don't remember the liberals backing that, i thought it was a tory policy. The coalition is mainly tory. The liberals were going to lose out on voter support big time whatever happened. If they tried to veto most tory policies they would be accused of holding the country to ransom with no mandate to do so. If they make concessions to the tories they get slated by both labour and liberal voters for not doing enough. I have one major gripe with the liberals and that is their refusal to stand up for students over tuition fees, instead rushing into trying to enact voting reform (which we badly need) but doing it in a bodged fashion with no budget for campaigning which resulted into losing that referendum.
acooling08 Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Wealiest should pay more tax should they Clegg? Let's start with you and your fellow Lib Dem MPs who do fvck all except bask in their false bit of power whilst betraying all of their principles. And maybe you could start paying for your own toilet paper rather than claiming expenses. Every little helps.

It's not holding anyone to ransom, they were voted in to represent the views of their constituency, if their constituents voted for them on the understanding they wouldn't vote for increased in tuition fees and would not support tax cuts for the wealthiest, then that is what they should have done, in fact they were morally bound to do so. If 60% of the population didn't vote for a party that wanted to increase tuition fees and lower the highest bracket for income tax, then why has that happened. Because the Lib Dems let us down, by us I mean me and everyone else that voted for them. Wealiest should pay more tax should they Clegg? Let's start with you and your fellow Lib Dem MPs who do fvck all except bask in their false bit of power whilst betraying all of their principles. Jon the Hat Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 While Clegg is a twat, they voted for the tuition fee increase because the student "loans" the vast majority will use to pay them is a graduate tax not a loan, and that means only those who can afford it will pay. If lib dems are too stupid to see this then who cares?

If lib dems are too stupid to see this then who cares? They ran on a set of policies, they got a number of seats on the back of those policies, they went back on them, they were elected to represent those views in parliament on behalf of their constituents, and they didn't do it. They proved themselves to be just as untrustworthy as everyone else and let people down.
breadandcheese Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 This statement is Clegg trying to grandstand to his party. It is meaningless and irrelevant, and once again shows how unfit Clegg is for his position as deputy PM. I especially like how he announces that Laws will be coming back into the cabinet, before the reshuffle has taken place.

He's perfect for the DPM slot - with all he keeps doing, people are being distracted from Cam-moron's bullshit. That's all the DPM is there for, to take the flak - that's why Prescott was labour's best choice for the place during the Blair/Brown era.
