Libyans attack US embassy

Recommended Posts

I assume everybody has heard about the libyans attacking the US embassy and killing an ambassador...

It just boggles my mind. The US amongst other countries have just helped them overthrow their terrible regime by sending weapons and supplies, and barely a few months later they repay the US by brutally attacking their embassy, killing 4 innocent people.

Why? Because of some amateur American film mocking Mohammed. I guess that them it justifies going on an insane rampage.

The sooner the oil dries up in the middle east the better, then the civilised world can finally give the arabs the middle finger for good.

Well yes but what is so unbelievable about this is that the US literally JUST helped the Libyans in their struggle against Gadaffi.

The middle eastern muslims are bloody barbarians.

That won't go down well.

another surprising acooling post...

Another typical purpleronnie post - critical and dismissive without adding anything of your own.

Somebody has to say it like it is. It's not a race issue. It's a religion issue - fundamentally an issue with Islam.

If white English christians did the same about a film attacking Jesus, I'd say the same about them.

Shocked by some of the comments in this thread

The amount of carnage and damage to innocent lives in that region over the past year has been immense, one high up guy and some office workers dont add up to the thousands of Black people tortured and slaughtered and the amount of men, women and children killed in their thousands all over the country.

Maybe all of this is being done for the greater good, and in time it might make sense, but I am fully against women and children being killed in war, and that is what is seemingly happening simply for Oil. I dont give a sh1t if these people are Muslim, they dont deserve to die in their own country for living the way they thought was right their whole lives.

If you dont know what has really happened in Libya, you need to word up. Im not writing essays on the 4king thing when your infront of the Internet

It was a civil war.

But you do care that they were black?

Anyway this thread isn't about the war but the murder of the US ambassador.

Wrong.

This thread is another poor attempt for a small-minded poster to use an incident to propagate their racist views.

Ok how about your ongoing racist posts...just like this one generalising arabs are not civilized.

Not that you'd understand...and at least everyone except for one poster on here can see your stupidity.

It was abit more complex than Civil war, most of the rebels werent civillians of the country

2nd Question is dumb

Its implied in the posts above that all the people of Libya should suffer for a few idiots in the country, If anywhere you would expect people to understand that it would be a Football forum lol

Most?

Gaddaffi had foreign mercenaries too.

Gaddaffi was a violent oppressor. The people of Libya didn't rise up so Britain could have the oil concession that they had already.

There are some serious points in this issue that should be discussed, unfortunately that seems beyond the op so I will try and raise a few.

The first is that it is suspected that this attack was pre-planned and that this film was just a convenient distraction.

The second point is about the irresponsibility in making this film, by all accounts very little is known about the film maker, and the actors involved acted in front of a green screen and have had the dialogue dubbed over the top so even the actors knew nothing of the content of the film. It seems to have been made just to stir up feelings in the middle east, which makes me question the validity of it and why the US is being blamed as it has nothing to do with the making of the film it is not even clear it was made in the states.

Religious bigots make film > religious extremists don't like film > man dies.

Blood seems to be on the hands of religion in general here.

Acooling gets criticized for saying all arabs are barbarians but it's okay to say all religions are to blame?

Not actually what was said.

Religion has blood on it's hands, as in a lot of people have killed and been killed in the name of religion is a bit different to saying all Arabs are barbaric.

So how were hindus and buddhists to blame in this instance?

I don't believe I said all religions are to blame, I wasn't aware of any hindu or coptic influence on the events.

Saying a lot of people have been killed in the name of religion is not the same as saying all religions have blood on their hands, and making a general point on religion in a thread about a specific incident is also possible, without having to justify it based on the incident in question.

Now saying religion has blood on its hands, does not mean all religions nor all followers of religion, but that religious texts and beliefs can be twisted, distorted and corrupted to the point where acts are committed that are actually complete at odds to the very core beliefs of all religions.
