Steven Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 Gerrbrand Completes Foxes SwitchPatrik Gerrbrand Leicester City have today (Friday) completed the signing of defender Patrik Gerrbrand from Swedish club Hammarby for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal and will now join up with his new team-mates ahead of the Foxes pre-season clash with Lillestrom tomorrow. And manager Craig Levein is delighted that his seven-month chase for the centre-half has finally paid dividends. He said: "We are finally pleased to announce the signing of Patrik Gerrbrand. "He is a player we have been chasing since January and while the deal has taken some time to conclude I am convinced it will be worthwhile. "Patrik fits the profile of a new breed of player we believe can help make Leicester City successful." Gerrbrand, who is awaiting international clearance from the FA, joins fellow new signings Rab Douglas, Patrick Kisnorbo, Momo Sylla, Paul Henderson and Nils-Eric Johansson at the Walkers Stadium.
Ricey Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 Eventually... It's good to have him here, can't wait to see him play.
Fox in a Box Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 This is excellent news, i was wondering if Leicester City were losing the way with attacting good quality players. If hes been after him since Jan then well done Craig. I hope he is as good as he has been built up to be. The ONE thing I'm really happy with is that he is bringing in players who WANT to play for the team and be proud to wear a city top. (I like hammerbys top, I might get one!! and as im behind the goal hell ntoice it too) Happy days...............

supedaj Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 Here's the bulk of what he said - a stark contrast between attitudes of Gerrbrand and Lovell I think .. Gerrbrand: The Only Way Is Up Patrik Gerrbrand has set his sights on playing Premiership football with Leicester City after completing his move to the Walkers Stadium. The 24-year-old defender signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee today (Friday) and is relishing the chance to help the Foxes bounce back up to the top-flight. He said: "It has been a busy couple of days for me but I am glad the deal is now finally done. "I want to play in the Premier League with Leicester City and I know the manager is putting together a team which will hopefully be capable of doing that. "That is why I am here. I like the management's attitude and I really want to help make this club successful." However, Gerrbrand is no stranger to the area having visited the Walkers Stadium over the festive period. He added: "I knew of Leicester's interest back then and came to the club to watch a few games and I liked what I saw. "It seems a really friendly club, everyone I have met has been very helpful and the City has everything that you need as a player." The former Swedish under-21 international has spent over 10 years at Hammarby but had little hesitation in making the move to England. "I had been at Hammarby for a long time and I knew if I moved it would involve a major upheaval," he said. "But I felt it was time for a change because I need to develop as a player. I want to get better and I think that will happen here. "I am a pretty calm centre-half with good passing skills and am pretty quick as well." Gerrbrand is now looking forward to meeting up with his new team-mates who are currently in Norway on a two-game pre-season tour. "Hopefully I will get to play some part against Lillestrom on Saturday and it will be nice to see the other players. "Nils-Eric Johansson is also from Stockholm so it will be good to get to know him while I also know Patrick Kisnorbo and have heard of the likes of Dion Dublin. "I can't wait for the challenge." http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~686236,00.html

forte Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 Good for you, Gerrbrand will do fine at center back. Im a swedish Blade so i've been following whats been happening with your Gerrbrand signing. Actually, i've been mentioning his name on a couple of Sheffield United boards, but Warnock doesnt look abroad for reinforcements a lot, so I guess a move to Sheffield wasnt ever in the pipline. Ive seen Gerrbrand a lot, especially in the Stockholm derbys (im a AIK-supporter) and feel free to ask me any questions about him, I guess its a bit of a gamble by CL, but generally swedes have quite easy to adapt to english football and off the pitch.

supedaj Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 Hello forte and welcome. What can you tell us about Gerrbrand? - Is he quick on the ball, whats his passing like - he says both are good. - Does he get injured much? - Whats his covering play like? - Does he usually drop back during corners and free kicks or does he try and get in the box for headers? - How consistent is his play? Does he play at a level week in week out or is it a few good matches and then not noticable? - Is he agressive at all and does he get booked often? - Is he a leader type or more a follower? Sorry to ask so many questions - always good to get some info from people who have seen him though... )
Muz Posted 15 July 2005 Posted 15 July 2005 Great Signing I just watched the Interview on the OS and Patrik says that he is a passing defender so the Leicester fans wont see any hoofing from him Im getting excited now
