deep blue Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 He denies that he came for money, then neglects to explain why he did come back. "For my own reasons". That means that he has personal reasons that he doesn't feel able to disclose (e.g. something that would disparage someone else, which would be an unwise and unnecessary thing to do), and would rather say nothing than come up with some other, untruthful explanation. This is a non-story.
Mack Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 Why does he have to? Perhaps he hated the owners, he definitely didn't like the fans. Perhaps he liked it here. Then why not say so mate? It's hardly controversial. I'm a Pearson fan, but wish sometimes he'd be a little more open.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 I think it's abundantly clear that he never wanted to leave here in the first place. He had built an excellent relationship with the squad, the fans and most of the backroom staff. The man who it is widely assumed was the catalyst behind his leaving, Lee Hoos, was the only sticking point for him. I argued at the time that Hull were a port in a storm, it was either them or unemployment. Call me naive but I would argue that after two very successful seasons here he would have had a certain affection for Leicester City, and the call from the Raksriaksorns when Sven left would have been extremely difficult for him to ignore even without the payrise he surely received. As Babs said; he didn't seem to have anything like the rapport with Hull fans that he did here so leaving the place, particularly for somewhere where he had enjoyed the two most successful years of his managerial career, was never going to be much of a wrench.

marty78 Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 He deserves the extra pennies for giving me a team I can be proud of again.

Absolutely agree with all of that.
Mack Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 Confidentiality clauses, nobody else's business, old news, who cares. I'm curious, and so was the journalist. I also think it would help him with team / player issues at times to be more open. The grey areas he often leaves hanging about are often filled by rumour and idle gossip.

Hull were still gutted to see him go though, I remember a lot of their fans coming on this forum last November-December and laughing up their win over us last December - all of whom have been fairly conspicuous by their absence on this thread, probably because they lost today!
flowwolf Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 wounder what tempted him back, maybe an emotional connection with the fans...??? No he said the dogging was very good at Groby pool.
CharlieSmith Posted 23 September 2012 Posted 23 September 2012 bet he didnt like the alahams they were hardley very good to Barmby and seem very hard nose investors. where our investors seem nice and prepared to spend money Frugality when required is no bad thing given the way football is going. We were well and truly in the sh*te when we came down from the Premier League two years ago. I'm sure you'll have noticed, however, that they invested £2.6m in a forward this Summer, as we have long struggled for goals. Maybe if Pearson hadn't made such a half-arsed attempt at managing us, they'd have trusted him with a bit more cash

I was just thinking about that time when you turned down a few million for him. Whoever was stubborn enough not to take that must feel like a right prat now.

Damn, I can't wait til he puts all his effort in then, we'll never lose a game!

foxesfan1989 Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Pearson knows the club, probably gets on well with the backroom staff and some of the players. He obviously felt he had a better shot at getting us promoted than Hull, and he was going to be paid more to try and achieve that. Plus the Hull fans never really appreciated what he did there. All makes sense to me.
Corky Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Another plus for Nigel is that the morning has gone and he hasn't been sacked. Sure we were told yesterday that he would go today.
MooseBreath Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Don't really care much for why he left hull, but the rest of the interview is quite interesting
Babylon Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Maybe if Pearson hadn't made such a half-arsed attempt at managing us You are currently 1 point better off than you were last year under awful Nigel. The 6 games after that you won two home games, one away game, and then drew a further three away games. If you go unbeaten in the next 6 and get 12 points come back and have a chat.
