Wellens has made a couple of appearancesicon1.png in the development squad but needs more match action.

With City going well in the league, manager Nigel Pearson felt a loan switch was the best option.

Several clubs expressed an interest in taking the 32-year-old on a temporary basis but he pickedChampionshipicon1.png strugglers Ipswich.

"I've been looking to go out on loan and when the opportunity arose to come to Ipswich, I did not have to think twice," Wellens said.

"Leicester wanted me to go out on loan and when they showed me the list of clubs that I could go to, Ipswich just stood out.

"I need to start playing games again after my injury and this is a great opportunity to do that. It's a nice club and I've always enjoyed playing at Portman Road.

"They're down at the bottom of the league at the minute but there are some good players in the squad so I'm sure the position will soon change."

Wellens made 46 appearances for City last season in all competitionsicon1.png but damaged his cruciate ligament in the home defeat to West Ham, in April.

The former City skipper has yet to make a first team appearances this season, but goes into Ipswich's squad for their Championship clashicon1.png against leaders Cardiff City today.

Let's hope he can help put a block on the Cardiff run.

Vardy a definite no to start off with. Lets see if he ends up playing as many games as Richie has for us. Drinky, James and Knocks have done nothing yet despite starting well. Morgan is the only player you named who can possibly justify your statement, let's see if he gets player of the year this year.

which rock have you been hiding under.

Leicester being shrewd for once when loaning player out. It seems we've learnt from the DJ loan to Blackpool :P
