I work shifts.

7 till 3

1.30 till 9.30

Or 21.15 to 07.15

Suits me fine most of the time.

That is true I guess, but I did get a lot of school traffic and 14 year olds apparently throw themselves in front of cars these days and expect you to stop. So every time has its annoyances...

Seeing how many you can hit just makes the drive to work more entertaining.:devil:

Have those that would prefer to work 8-4 or 6-2 actually asked their boss if they can?

Obviously depends on your line of work, but any office workers shouldn't have a problem working more flexible hours and it should be encouraged by the government to take the pressure off rush hour traffic.

In some lines of work you should be able to pick and choose your hours as long as you work the requisite number of hours and get all your work done.

The downside to that is, if you really need Steve to file a post-it note (or whatever it is office workers do), but he isn't rolling in until 3PM it's going to cause problems. Also,

you'll get on awkward bastard who's decided he's working until 4:30AM so it will cost more in energy bills.

I work 2-8 most days, including weekends and get like 1 or 2 days off a week.

Get a lie in but don't really have any time to do anything afterwards. I'm alright with it. Tiring though.

I've done security at places where there has been one or two doing a night shift and I'd have go round every hour or so to check that they hadn't had an heart attack or caught their hand in a machine. Although they did have alarms with them if they set the place on fire. I could then call the fire brigade without finding out for myself :)

19:00 - 07:00. 4 nights on, 4 nights off. Long old shifts but 4 days off in a row makes it worth it. Also if I book 4 days off for a holiday I have 12 days off in a row.

Working now till Friday morning but then have 12 days off. Kids are going to Ireland with their nan for half term. I am off to Spain.

I work 7.30-4.00 most of the time. Suits me down to a tee. Sometimes have to stay late to sort the rabble out that work for me though.

I've worked just about every shift imaginable but I find afternoon shifts are the work of the devil. Get up & can't do anything & it's too late to do anything when you get home. Horrible horrible life ruining shift.

I work a multitude of shift times either 8/10 hours and beginning anywhere between 5am and 3pm in the day and 8/9pm for night shifts.

Any kind of regularity would be frankly brilliant. Can I have an option for any of the above? :D

I do 8:00 - 4:30 Mon-Fri.

Always struggled to get out of bed at 8:15 for college times let alone getting to work for 8:00... I'm convinced it's slowly melting my brain lol

My parents tell me getting up early comes with age - I bloody hope so!!

On the plus side I always have a free weekend and I'm always free to go to City games :D

Missing the worst of the work traffic on the way to and from work is good too.

Geez we have a lot of shift workers here, I come in when i want leave when i want. As long as i'm getting my work done the powers that be are pleased.

I've worked all sorts, 12 hour shifts, 7.5 hours, even had the odd occasional 24 hour day back when i did security which left me completely shattered and i've worked days, afternoons and night shifts.

Also have worked long shifts with just enough time to get 3 to 4 hours kip before starting again back in the 90s.

Basically whatever pays the bills though if i could i'd prefer days at a nice company that respects its work force.
