Webbo Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Taking the family for a day trip to Lincoln tomorrow, don't know why, never been before. What are the must see things to see in a day? Suggestions please.
sphericalfox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 The Emancipation Proclamation is worth a gander
NewburyFox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 The Cathedral. Take a walk up Steep Hill, and walk round it. It's lovely.
Saxondale Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Not my favourite place. The Cathedral / castle area is fairly pretty.
scottthefox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Don't take too many otherwise Lincolnshire Police might catch wind and force you to take the family on a day trip behind closed doors......
Webbo Posted 25 October 2012 Author Posted 25 October 2012 So Steep hill leads up to the Cathederal, is the castle close by too? Don't take too many otherwise Lincolnshire Police might catch wind and force you to take the family on a day trip behind closed doors......

lavrentis Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Very nice City, go up steep hill to see the Castle and Cathedral
sdb Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Live in Lincoln. Quite nice. Certainly the bailgate area (Cathedral & Castle). SOme nice pubs and restaurants around there too. THe rest of the city is pretty meh. Don't get stuck on the shiity single lane during rush hour.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Castle or the Cathedral (can't remember which) contains one of the original copies of the Magna Carta - though when I went a couple of years ago it was just a replica cos the original was being preserved.* There's a good whisky shop on Steep Hill too. *NO, not made into jam.
AoWW Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Go to the cheese shop - if you like cheese, of course.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Don't take too many otherwise Lincolnshire Police might catch wind and force you to take the family on a day trip behind closed doors...... Someone had to say it.
SemperEadem Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 When I went years ago there was a really nice old fashioned sweet shop on the main very steep hill in the center.
Saxondale Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 When I went years ago there was a really nice old fashioned sweet shop on the main very steep hill in the center. It's in Lincolnshire, everything is old-fashioned.

They also filmed part of the Da Vinci Code in the Cathedral
Webbo Posted 26 October 2012 Author Posted 26 October 2012 Just got back, nice little place. Went in the Magna Carta pub for dinner but the service was shocking.
