definitely not finners Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 I'm really curious to know what on Earth possesses people to sit away from the bulk of singing support (which I think these days we have to call L1 and I can say that without bias) if they're interested in making noise and a good atmosphere? I've long been immensely frustrated with what's almost a contest between L1 and the Kop because there seems to be a staggering lack of primary school level science or maths being done by the people that strongly advocate one or the other. Simply put, you divide the sound you weaken it. Easy is that. It was my major gripe with the Fosse Boys and whilst I like Bilo and co' I was always quite open about my stance when it came to them adopting their own corner to sing their own songs. Essentially, massive flaw in otherwise noble idea. Now I see people on here championing N1 and I just think - **** - am I missing something or are people just being massively dense? For every voice you take away from L1 you make the atmosphere worse, simple as. Now don't get me wrong, I sit in C2 (hence my lack of bias) where my da' has been sat for years and I'll continue to do so because I go to home games to spend some time with him and will continue to do so. I'll sing at away games but obviously don't make a lot of noise in our corner on my tod. So I'm not judging those who don't sing, everyone should enjoy the games in their own way, but I'm absolutely baffled by anyone who wants things to get better but continues to dilute the noise. I'm just curious really, if you sit in N1 or you're still in the Kop what was your reason for deciding to be there, what do you prefer about it and haven't you been tempted to move? This isn't an attack I'm just genuinely a bit flummoxed. Of the aways I've been I really can't remember many grounds with three or so little separate singing sections. It's a bit barmy.
davieG Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 Perhaps the fact the L1 is both more expensive than the Kop/N1 and is ST only so excludes a whole section of fans is having a bearing on it.
definitely not finners Posted 3 December 2012 Author Posted 3 December 2012 But then surely if you can't get a ticket in L you go to K and so on and that section just grows as a result? Obviously I doubt everyone could all fit in one tiny block who wants to sing but the nearer they are the better, no? I must admit I'm a little naive as to pricing, is the jump that vast?
Ashley Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 N1. Cheaper. Closer to the away fans for banter purposes. Most teams have two singing sections to 'out sing' the away fans. I'm in N1 and we have more lads in and around there this season and should start something off this could be the start of something new.
definitely not finners Posted 3 December 2012 Author Posted 3 December 2012 Is money the only real reason for you, Ash? Being near the away fans is a fair enough reason but then L and K are close enough, surely? Any noise you make in that little bit of N is going to be utterly drowned out by a united away corner. I've almost never, ever heard N from my end. I'm not taking a pop, I applaud the fact you mean well it just seems ill conceived.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 It's a good thing that Finners didn't start this thread, or he would have gotten some real stick. I'm not sure we're not just ploughing up soil that's been turned many times before. I went to get 2 tickets for the Barnsley match today. I like a bit of atmosphere and singing, but as usual L1 was gone and in K1 there were only seats in the first few rows - my willingness to sing along was outweighted by my wanting a decent angle to watch the match at, so H1 it was then.

Poakey Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 My season ticket in L1 is something like £410, a season ticket in K1 is about an extra £100 and gets more expensive the more central you get.

Nothing like feeling the stand shake under Neath you when you have 3k away fans next to you. Hopefully we can start something if not then oh well worth a try
1964FOX Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 I'm tempted by N1, moving to L1 is more expensive and I need to get three tickets together so is difficult.

Why are you called 'definitely not Finners'?
LCFC FOX Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 1st season in N1 as i could get right next to the barrier of the away fans high up and stand. Also cheaper.. Moved from SK2 as i sat at the top for the last three seasons. The atmosphere there is not as good as N1 has been this season. N1 chant all the L1 chants so no one really knows we are singing. We normally tend to sing our own chants 80th minute onwards when winning. Against Derby it was quality. I'm sure Derby fans replied to us and I was wondering if anyone from L1 or the KOP could here us.
GingerrrFox Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 N1 and L1 usually sing the same songs. Makes sense to me to have chants on either side of the away fans. What I can't understand is people who want to sing who continue in the Kop, just move to N1. It's cheaper anyway.
LCFC FOX Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 Agreed N1 join in with every song L1 do. Its just L1 get all the credit. We are slowly starting to start our own and it would be great to see L1 join in with us or have a banter like right side/left side or celtic chant going on.
Wagstff Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 I sit in N1 and I have done for a few seasons now, and we are slowly getting louder cause more people who want to sing are moving in there cause the prices are significantly different! Like against derby they were taking the p*** cause we're the family stand so we gave them some stick back and they didn't like and soon turned there attentions to singing about hating Forest!

Where abouts do you sit in N1 mate? Me and Ashley gonna get some new chants going against Barnsley if you're up for it

Kevfromle Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 I'm not judging either! People will sit where they enjoy watching the game most. For some that involves singing for others that is anathema. For some it's standing up for many the idea of standing is appalling. Some want to be close to the away fans, others as far away as possible. In many instances people sit where they have sat for many years (or in the comparative seats at Filbo). It's personal choice and nothing will change that!
mackiepas Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 I stand in L1 and I never hear N1 singing.. Infancy the only other stand I hear and see standing and singing is 'oddly' the family stand.
Dan Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 N1 sounds more likely for me next season - seems to be the one of the few blocks my mates have renewed in. SK1 on the whole was an embarrassment for noise, there was the odd song but for a 'Kop' it's terrible. I can see the logic in this thread and N1/L1 could be a decent idea, best chance of starting anything like that come on you boys in blue too (or something along them lines).
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 The atmosphere as a whole is generally better than it was, but with the Kop singing one song (occasionally) and L1 another it's like 2 different teams are playing I sit in J block and nobody even moves there hands never mind sing, think me and my brother r the only ones who try and join in, so frustrating. but i love my view & have sat there since the ground opened. wish the KOP would wake up!!
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Tempted to try N1 next time I can get to a home game.
Dan Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Maybe N1 + Danny the Fox's idea against Burton could be combined...
whoareyaaa Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 Everyone in L1 should just move to N1 next season and then any other people that want to stand/sing just swarm N1 or the next few blocks, after 1 or 2 seasons this would become the new kop if people actually went through with it. its a simple solution really with a bit of thought it could be done... evnuatlly the club would just move the family stand over to the where the current kop is. I don't quite understand why the 'family' stand is actually next to the away fans in the first place.
Dan Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 There's absolutely no point in L1 moving to N1, absolutely none at all, I honestly think L1/N1 if enough joined could almost be a joint singing section.
