StanSP Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 When I did alphabet studies it was considered 4th best. So I bet you were pleased with a D ? Is a B grade at GCSE considered good? To be quite honest, I don't think many employers look at GCSEs so much, if you have higher educational grades on the CV (A-Levels, Uni degree etc). But yes, a B is alright.
Rincewind Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 Tha's me buggered then. Although I never got mine when in school. Disappointed with my English and Spanish ones at night school. I have got a EDL and food hygiene certificates though.
Zingari Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 GCSE's only last 5 years remember what happens ? do they self destruct ? Tha's me buggered then. Although I never got mine when in school. Lamby Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 what happens ? do they self destruct ? They're just not recognised really, you have to do Key Skills tests instead.
Zingari Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 They're just not recognised really, you have to do Key Skills tests instead. What , like being able to open padlocks , safes and locked briefcases and stuff ?
The Doctor Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 what happens ? do they self destruct ? No, their warranty runs out after 5 years, upon which they conveniently break and you have to get a new one. It's all a scam I tells ya.
Rincewind Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 what happens ? do they self destruct ? blimey windy , do you have to pass exams to get in the EDL? Thought it looked wrong. I mean ECDL European Computer Driving License. And don't ask why it's called a driving license. I do not know. Daft name.
Vacamion Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 GCSE's only last 5 years remember Having done O levels in 1987, I got some GCSEs in 1988 and 1989 (I was bored) which I was still putting on CVs two years ago. Maybe CGSEs have a shelf life for getting to Uni, but generally, they are still worth something for employers indefinitely.
Danno Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 Ok because I got a B in one of my Chemistry modules so I'm dissapointed

I have one of those. It's on my CV but never actually used the card or certificate as proof of it. I thought I'd lost mine. Found it still in the brown envelope on my bedroom floor last week. It was under other stuff and never thought anything of it. Basically it just means I know the basics of Microsoft software. I am better now with Exel but not used Powerpoint since doing the exam. Not sure how much I remember of that or dat base program.
Guest MattP Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 But you can overdress for some jobs, I think you should go half and half, you know, jacket and tie with jeans, trainers and comedy socks, but don't forget to iron your jeans you don't want to look like a dick. Can you? I'd never expect to see anyone in anything less than a suit if they went for a job interview.
StanSP Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 Can you? I'd never expect to see anyone in anything less than a suit if they went for a job interview. Whoosh! Straight over your head, mate .

Rincewind Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Done my roving reporter bit today again so it may help my chances with the role I'm after. Things still have to go through a process though
FoxesAreBlue Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 One interview tomorrow, bring it on. Just had a clean shave too How was it?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 How was it? He was too busy getting a blowy and missed the interview.
StanSP Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 One interview tomorrow, bring it on. Just had a clean shave too Probably only took a few seconds anyway .
Lamby Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Probably only took a few seconds anyway . Damn you for knowing my secret. Was 20mins long, I covered all the points in the job description and basically gave them how my work history linked in with those points, every last point I made linked into their next question so that was a good bit of transition. Said I could compromise as the job advert went up wrong as it was sposed to be Monday to Saturday but it went up as Monday to Friday, so I said I could compromise and do Sunday instead of Saturdays. I even started the handshake at the end of the interview too Was sposed to phone back this afternoon but they said that the call could be late, so I should be expecting one tomorrow.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 What's the job for? Always state that you are in it for the long term, looking to make a career out of it etc. An employer is always looking for someone who is prepared to stick around for a while, as the costs and time in re-hiring and training some one is so great.

Lamby Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 What do you become qualified in with the apprenticeship? Or is it just a ploy to pay training wages? Customer Service Level 2, basically an A Level.
