Donut Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Well i mean obviously nightshift isnt ideal socially but at least youd still see the footy, get some good experience in a variety of different companies, and usually you get paid more anyway. I know its not perfect but its an option
FoxesAreBlue Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Lamby you must be on the wind up. I'll be honest, not renewing my ST this year is horrible and I've only seen the team play twice. But fvck me it's not nearly as horrible as not having a job. There's now way in hell I'd put LCFC before my own advancement, not a prayer.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 I have a job now. Slightly different to what I was hoping. The intervier said she had two places to fill and 20 hours to allocate. But there were 7 or 8 applicants. They all have skills that would be useful (graphic designer web developer filming etc) and she want to give all a chance, so I only have five hours. I don't mind this too much. It mean I will at least be doing some paid work. May help with getting other part time work. I may be covering the Homeless football World Cup. She was telling me that she did it last year and travelled all over even went to Man Utd's training ground. Expenses paid. I just have to put five hours down PW whether it is writing or attending a venue for events. At the end of the month hours can be carried over so it is always about 20. I have also said I'll cover some of the Comedy Festival so any entry fees will be reimbursed. Unfortunately drinks don't count. It's a six month contract then reviewed. Hoping to start Feb 1st. It will take me up to July which is when my pension credits could start. I asked if I needed to do more and she said just what I'm doing now. There are training course I can go on which may be useful. Would watch that in my lunch breaks every day when it was in Melbourne, skills were pretty high but it's more futsal than football as it's only 5 or 6 a side on small pitches and they play a few times a day.
Rincewind Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Not been down for a few years so I'm used to it. With the security job I had no choice. If I missed a shift I would be out. The company may have lost the contract for the site. Still listen to the radio when I can. When I was told the BHF shop was reducing hours so as to let all do some I was asked if I could do SAturday afternoon I said I'd prefer not to so was offered Friday instead. If I did not have a choice I may have done the Saturday as I enjoy the work. Even though I'm getting on a bit I welcome the experience. Looking forward to the media work. Sports/entertainment correspondent. and following local hopefuls for the Homeless World Cup. There is an article about last years. in the link below The final was in Mexico.
Ozwin Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 I'm starting to thing he's just trolling us all. Nobody can be this adverse to working, has he ever had a job?

If we get to go to Man Utd again should I wear my City shirt or I wonder if the club will donate one to me?

I agree, seems to me he just posts something ridiculous and then doesn't post for ages whilst people are trying to tell him where he's going wrong. Also have you seen the betting thread?
Lamby Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 I have had jobs before yes: Worked as a Christmas Temp in Comet during December 09, lasted 2 weeks cos they didn't pay me my fixed rate and refused to budge so I got myself sacked. Did 3 weeks of Volunteering as an Office Admin in Sep 11 but the company removed all voluntary positions due to lack of work, they went into admin last year. I don't want a job in retail though, that's the thing, customers annoy me soo much. I really want office/admin sort of stuff but I cannot afford to do any of the courses as Job Centre refuse to pay for anything.

Lamby Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 What courses, and how much are they? a 3 day Sage one is about £65 and the rest are like £2000+
foxfanazer Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 £65......................£2000+ Definitely not!
Guest MattP Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 a 3 day Sage one is about £65 and the rest are like £2000+ You have done the sage one I presume then?
Unabomber Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 a 3 day Sage one is about £65 and the rest are like £2000+ Don't you go to all home and away games, and you can't afford a £65 course?
Lamby Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 £65......................£2000+ Definitely not! The proper Business Admin courses are £2K+ You have done the sage one I presume then? Nope, can't afford it Don't you go to all home and away games, and you can't afford a £65 course? Do you realise that living on £112 per 2 weeks is hard, especially as paying £30 for rent to parents, so I can't afford to live off £25 for 2 weeks, just not possible
Guest MattP Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Sacrifice a couple of aways trips and take the sage course. It's pretty important as about half the offices that you want to work in will tend to use it.

Don't u go to every charlton game?

I've actually cut down on the number of aways I've done this season by a few. erm......am I missing something? Don't u go to every charlton game? Every home game and most away games, only missed out on 6 away games this season
Rincewind Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 I've actually cut down on the number of aways I've done this season by a few. Every home game and most away games, only missed out on 6 away games this season Those sentences kinda contradict each other.

Every home game and most away games, only missed out on 6 away games this season Missing a few Charlton games would only be a temporary thing. Short term pain of saving from a few away games to do a course that will benefit your chances of moving into an office role (benefit you in the rest of your career afterwards), and then once youre in the door, in a couple of months youll be back to following charlton with plenty more dosh. Youre parents would probably let you off a couple of weeks rent if they could see it was going towards something worthwhile surely
