Zingari Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Don't drag me into this. I've been avoiding the political debates recently. Why is that ? I used to enjoy all your political ding dongs
Webbo Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Why is that ? I used to enjoy all your political ding dongs I get fed up with repeating the same things to the same people. Most people can guess my opinions by now anyway.
Rincewind Posted 5 January 2013 Author Posted 5 January 2013 There are also many landlords who do not care abou the tenants. The safety checks are not carried out as they are supposed to. Complaints about noisy neighbours are ignored rents are put up without consultation and eviction notices are served at short notice with no reason. The Xmas edition of DNO has an article by somebody who had a neighbour who did renovations at 3am causing him to suffer from anciety. He has just found a place of his own. I was hoping it would be avaible online but it only came out a few days before Xmas so has not been put up on the website yet. Some interesting articles regarding shared housing.
Guest MattP Posted 5 January 2013 Posted 5 January 2013 I think a combination of mattp and flowwolf thoroughly russled their jimmies and they're currently hanging out in a cave on the edge of a cliff somewhere in the med, hosing each others naked bodies down with pumped sea water while they formulate excuses as to why they have been so soundly defeated, and eventually, I suppose, a plan of attack for returning to the forum. Although daggers is no doubt getting used to a daily length of back scratching.
The People's Hero Posted 6 January 2013 Posted 6 January 2013 Anyway. Anyone want to lend me a few quid for a bigger house?

Jon the Hat Posted 6 January 2013 Posted 6 January 2013 Anyway. Anyone want to lend me a few quid for a bigger house? No. I am in the same boat. Two bedrooms, and a second kid on the way. Would be nice to have a driveway as well. And be able to walk around my house. I have actually never lived in a detached house. It is a bit of a thing for me these days.
Jon the Hat Posted 6 January 2013 Posted 6 January 2013 Do you live in Leicester, Jon? No I'm in Woking.
Carl the Llama Posted 6 January 2013 Posted 6 January 2013 No I'm in Woking. Coincidentally my local team, but the glory hunter that I am I opted to inherit City from my Grandad and Uncle (Dad's not a big football man) - sure as shit was never going for the Chelsea/Arsenal connection on my Mum's side!

And mine. I went to a few games in the 108 point season when they won the diadora league back in the 90s, then sort of forgot about football for a few years, then when I moved to Leicester in 95 it was a great time to be a city fan. It sort of stuck even though I hardly ever get to Leciester or to games. Probably partly due to this place.
The People's Hero Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Is Woking quite expensive? I don't know the area very well but sort of near Guildford/Godalming/Aldershot?? etc?
Jon the Hat Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Is Woking quite expensive? I don't know the area very well but sort of near Guildford/Godalming/Aldershot?? etc? Not terribly cheap. 28 minutes to London Waterloo on the train you see. I am in a cheaper part, but still that next step on the ladder is proving a challenge.

I am in a cheaper part, but still that next step on the ladder is proving a challenge. We are about 5 miles from Maidstone, which is (Maidstone) an hour from London Victoria on the train. It really is ridiculously expensive here, although moving elsewhere is problematic since my wife's family all live nearby and they are a close family. I work in Maidstone, have many friends in Maidstone and other ties to the area. Now that my wife does not work, we could not even get a mortgage to move to the estate which is 80% social housing. The very sort of house which in my exact situation, but without a job, I could live in for nothing!

Really I should be more satisfied with my lot, but I didn't expect to be in the same house after 6 years and 4 promotions. My wife is not working at the moment either, but she will have to go back once the little one is in nursery or we aren't going anywhere.

I feel bad for moaning and I only moan on here, never to those closer to me, I suppose its a good way to let out some anger and frustration. Maybe I'm greedy, I'm not sure. It does depress me though, whether it should or not, I really can't answer that, but it also makes me feel a little inadequate.
Zingari Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Reading about how some of you people are struggling to maintain adequate housing has made me feel rather guilty about having such a large luxurious country pile. I might need a couple of stiff brandies at lunch time to take my mind off it.
Guest Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 I have 3 houses. The one I live in is an 11 bed house. Damn our system.
