Zingari Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 I don't think we'll be seeing that going past the KP stadium along the canal .
MooseBreath Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 I bet that would struggle to get up the river soar
Larry_LCFC Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 What the hell stops them containers from falling off if the ship gets caught in a storm and starts really rocking. They are stacked so high...
The People's Hero Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 What the hell stops them containers from falling off if the ship gets caught in a storm and starts really rocking. They are stacked so high... Ermm.. their huge weight? The fact that a ship that wide really wouldn't rock much? The fact that issues such as these are considered and prevented from occurring by people far more intelligent and qualified than us?

ithuriel Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 The ships would be well ballasted, the captains and crew for ships that expensive would be well trained etc., Watched a show once where they sailed one of these vessels and there are all sorts of dangers including pirate attacks etc., they have to be careful of. Bet they are a nightmare for any customs to check through so smuggling would be a problem.
The People's Hero Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 No real need for a sarcy reply. I was just asking. How do you read sarcasm in to that? It was a straight response? Disregard it if you like, but you asked the question and I gave you, I think a sensible answer. Remember that similar forces that are acting on the boat in a storm will be acting on the cargo too. When something is that large and heavy - and its cargo that large and heavy, they are probably basically going to stay together unless there is something pretty severe.
Rincewind Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 Bet it's not as big as the alleged Noah's Ark.
Webbo Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 Bet it's not as big as the alleged Noah's Ark. Do you think you could go more than 4 posts without some "I don't believe in God" comment? We're all well aware of your opinion by now.

Webbo Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 It was a I don't believe in Noah's Ark comment. Controversial as always.
Saxondale Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 What the hell stops them containers from falling off if the ship gets caught in a storm and starts really rocking. They are stacked so high... They are bolted to one another using big metal rods, effectively making each section into one massive container - which ain't going anywhere.
