Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 We should have a think tank to discuss if our infants are safe with infantry . Absolutely, we don't want any paedo rank and files!
Zingari Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Do you think they're out of step with the general feeling? Yes I'm sure there's a colonel of truth in that .
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 There's some major punnage here, we should bring back corporal punishment! And back on a LCFC note, I think we should field Marshall more often next season.
Tielemans63 Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Always amazes me how much people who don't work in teaching know about the profession. I wish I had such an in-depth knowledge of all the industries I've never worked in.

Tielemans63 Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Sounds like a quick fix by the government to make up for the shortage in teachers... Yep and a solution for the increasing number of unemployed armed forces personnel who will be on the market as operations within the major wars of the last 10 years are scaled down.

I wish I had such an in-depth knowledge of all the industries I've never worked in. I bet there are some on here expert in things they know nothing about had ano contact with people in areas they do not work.
Webbo Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 The bloke I'm renting my toilet to would be good at this. He's a loo tenant. I'll get me coat.
MooseBreath Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Always amazes me how much people who don't work in teaching know about the profession. I wish I had such an in-depth knowledge of all the industries I've never worked in. We've all been to school though. We know what teachers do. It's not exactly rocket science.
Tielemans63 Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 We've all been to school though. We know what teachers do. It's not exactly rocket science. We've all been to the doctors too, probably more recently than you have been to school - does that qualify us all to comment on their profession too then?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 We've all been to school though. We know what teachers do. It's not exactly rocket science. And how many bad teachers did you have? I had my fair share. So if people have done all the qualifications to become teachers can be bad... Myself, I think it's more about having communication skills and the ability to pass on knowledge in a way that makes people remember it that is the skill rather than having a huge store of knowledge. My maths teacher was no doubt a more than competent mathematician, but it doesn't change the fact that he had the communication skills of a dog turd and was only half as interesting. I'm amazed I can count!
Charl91 Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 We've all been to school though. We know what teachers do. It's not exactly rocket science. lol Well, I've watched The Office, so I know all about how an office works.
MooseBreath Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 We've all been to the doctors too, probably more recently than you have been to school - does that qualify us all to comment on their profession too then? Comparing teachers with doctors? No thanks Jeff. But as you mention it, yes. We expect doctors to know what's wrong with us and how to make us better.
MooseBreath Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 lol Well, I've watched The Office, so I know all about how an office works. Absolutely pathetic comparison.
Parafox Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Comparing teachers with doctors? No thanks Jeff. But as you mention it, yes. We expect doctors to know what's wrong with us and how to make us better. He's not comparing teachers with doctors. He's making the point that what you said about us all having gone to school, so that qualifies us to comment on teachers skills, is utter bolox
Charl91 Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Absolutely pathetic comparison. About as pathetic as your original comment
MooseBreath Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 He's not comparing teachers with doctors. He's making the point that what you said about us all having gone to school, so that qualifies us to comment on teachers skills, is utter bolox He attempted to disprove my comment by applying it to doctors, an absurd comparison.
Parafox Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 He attempted to disprove my comment by applying it to doctors, an absurd comparison. Well surely the comparison with any profession we have come into direct contact with, is valid? Well surely the comparison with any profession we have come into direct contact with, is valid? You, I believe, were making judgements about teachers because you have been to school
Tielemans63 Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 He attempted to disprove my comment by applying it to doctors, an absurd comparison.Er...no. Parafox is quite right. The comparison with Doctors was just the first thing that came to mind. If the comparison offends you that's fine but the point remains.
Rincewind Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I've seen a few John Wayn films so I know what war is like.
Parafox Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I've seen some porn so i know what sex is like. And farming.
MooseBreath Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Well surely the comparison with any profession we have come into direct contact with, is valid? You, I believe, were making judgements about teachers because you have been to school Teaching is much simpler than being a doctor, that is why the comparison is invalid. You could shadow a refuse collection officer for a day and have a pretty good idea on what makes a good refuse collection officer and how to perform the role to an adequate standard. Meanwhile if you shadowed a doctor for a day you would still know essentially nothing whatsoever about how to perform their role. Having sat and watched teachers teach for 16 years or more, I think most of us have a level of insight into the teaching profession which qualifies us to comment moreso than we would for other professions of which we have relatively little experience. That's all I'm saying you bunch of precious little Nancy boys.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I've watched several airport films and feel reasonably confident of landing an airliner!

And because you're struggling to get your pathetic point across, you finish with an insult.
