So you mean you won't let me stay in your welfare pad? This upsets me ken. Very much. And you say Cameron are inhuman? Take a look in the mirror, pal.

No I said the opposite Are you actually saying Cameron and co are inhuman and incapable of making a mistake? I'd like to think that somewhere within them they are human and like the rest of us make and learn from mistakes.

How the **** do you recover from that state down the Goose stairs to be posting by 9?

Bit strange that an ex-serviceman should be claiming benefits at 59 when his military pension would have kicked in at 55, but OK.

Bit strange that they've blamed a lack of electricity when his electricity was still on, but OK.

Why did he miss his meetings? Seems to me that this alleged tragedy would have been avoided had he simply turned up every now and again when he was supposed to.

Yes of course you are right as always. It seems strange that your answers fit in perfectly with your inflexible views. Like I said I can only pass on the story. It is up to you whether you choose to believe it. Would you like me to pass your sympathetic comments on to his family?

Are you saying disabled people should be treated differently? You were saying they should be treated the same the other day. Should he not be sanctioned if he has diabates? I know a couple of people who have this and they both work and have to control their insulin.

Something doesn't quite work out here. His sister can't really complain either, if my brother was ill and diabetic I'd be making sure he was ok every day. Not turning up to find him dead as he had no money.

Why didn't he apply for a hardship payment?

Some people do not talk about their problems. Some are too proud to asmit they need help. The staff at the job centre do not give advice or where to get help unless asked. His sister did say he was quiet and never mentioned any problems. There could be many factors as to why he missed an appointment. The staff do not always ask why before sanctioning. There are people who have been in hospital themselves or with a family who have had money stopped immediately It takes more than 6 weeks to have it reinstated. This bloke had a trade and had worked all his life. He was 59 and not in the greatest of health a bit of a risk to an employer who wanted someone that could turn up daily long term.

Yes disabled people should be treated the same as an able bodied person but in a fair not unfair way.

Well then you can't blame other people for it then can you? You can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped or doesn't let you know they need extra help.

Sadly that is the way it is. As I said a  lot of people are too proud to talk about their problems especially older people who were brought up believing asking for help is wrong or a sign of failure upon their part. We have seen it on FT where a member suddenly pours their heart out without giving any  prior indication that anything was wrong. The response is usually a sympathetic shoulder along with advice urging them to seek help.

I am saying this also happens outside FT Sometimes a person does not realise how much trouble they are in like a gambler addicted to horse betting. People with a lower mental capacity to make rational decisions are just two  examples.

This is a report by a Select Committee of MP's who consist of members of all parties. They have said what was warned about from the start about ESA. It is flawed and badly implemented.  Groups acting for the disabled and mentally ill have expressed concern from the outset over what effect it is having on those that they represent.

And the select committee of MP's findings?

Some good ideas, they seem keen to get as many disabled people still into work which os obviously a good thing rather than just being paid to sit down. I don't actually see too much change being recommended to ESA in the documents apart from two MP's, they all also clearly still want the WRAG to exist just to make sure it doesn't cover to wide an area.

They also seem to actually agree with the principle of what the government are doing but realise it needs tweeking and it will take time to do so.

I don't really see what's in it that you would find positive though?

I've been reading about various large scale building and regeneration work in london, including some billion pound delevelopments.

Some are great some a little odd, but london seems to be booming.

Allies & Morrison has won outline planning for the 455,000sq m Wood Wharf extension to Canary Wharf.

The scheme will add 30 new buildings to the east of the existing cluster. The first phase of these include buildings designed by Herzog & de Meuron, Stanton Williams, KPF, Grid and Allies & Morrison.

The total Wood Wharf scheme will provide 250,000sq m of residential, including 3,100 new homes, 180,000sq m of offices focused on the creative media, technology and telecommunications sector, more than 100 shops, restaurants and cafes, a primary school, an NHS medical centre, a community centre, a hotel and a network of parks and public squares.

Completion of the first phase will coincide with the arrival of Crossrail in 2018.

The first phase planned will include 884 residential units in three buildings, designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Stanton Williams, totalling 90,000sq m, and two office buildings totalling more than 20,000sq m, designed by Allies & Morrison.

George Iacobescu, chairman and chief executive officer of Canary Wharf Group plc, said they hoped to be on site in late 2014, with the first buildings completed in 2018.

DRMM has won the competition to design the UK’s first floating village.

The practice beat the likes of Baca Architects and Ian Ritchie Architects to land the job in east London’s Royal Docks.

It is part of a consortium with developer Carillion Igloo Genesis and engineer Buro Happold.

The 6ha of water at the Royal Victoria Dock site, just east of the Emirates Airline, will be transformed into a community with 50 custom-built homes, plus restaurants, bars and offices.

There will also be a blue-water square framed by a market square, a floating cornice and an events space. Plans for additional facilities, such as a lido and ice rink, were also proposed as part of the bid.

The winning scheme will be 100% floating with the walkways, residential and non-residential units anchored in place using a series of piles located within the dock and connected to the dock by bridges.

Although a first for the UK, floating developments are common on the continent.

DRMM’s scheme was inspired by a community in ljburg near Amsterdam and the team was advised by Dutch floating structures experts Mark van Ommen of Floatbase and Ton van Namen of Monteflore.

The homes will use the same concrete foundations as in Ijburg. Construction will be carried out off-site and then delivered by water.

Alex de Rijke, partner at dRMM, presented his studies on floating villages at the Venice architecture biennale.

Chris Brown, director of Carillion Igloo Genesis, said: “Living in a floating home you’ve helped to design is a dream lots of us have.

“By combining the floating home experience of our Dutch collaborators with our custom built business we hope to make these dreams come true in Royal Victoria Dock for a few lucky Londoners.

“East London’s place on the tourist trail is growing fast. It’s about to be joined by Europe’s largest floating village, with floating markets, creative workspace, events and watersports.”

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Newham council in spring 2015.

Not good news for me and the company I work for. A lot of our contracts and order book are from Bombardier.

This could have a big effect on me and a lot of people I work with.
