Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 Someone suggested this. Just hope it isn't deleted. This is for news stories that may be hidden in the press relating to health and social issues of ordinary every day folk. positive and negative. Here is a link to the DNO site they have stories added daily. Local stories and information on local events can be found on the Citizens' Eye site with further links to other interesting stories that may not feature in the major press. Just choose the stories that you wish to read and maybe comment on. http://www.mydownnotout.org.uk/
Guest MattP Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 And by "news", we mean copy and paste jobs from various left-wing news agencies.
Charl91 Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 Tiny frog uses leaf umbrella! http://metro.co.uk/2013/07/24/tiny-frog-shelters-from-storm-using-makeshift-leaf-umbrella-3896428/ Just letting you guys know, since the mainstream news has been trying to hide it from you.
leicsmac Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 And by "news", we mean copy and paste jobs from various left-wing news agencies. Well, the right-wing has the 'Good News' thread, so why not?
Mike Oxlong Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 I am going to have a skinful in the local tonight. Not too good for my health but will be compensated for by the social benefits. Don't expect this to be reported by any major news organisation so thought I would post it in here. Cheers.
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 Well, the right-wing has the 'Good News' thread, so why not? Yes It does but there are good leftie stories which I have tried to indispose into the thread. I try to start a thread which sometimes may contain unpopular views and news that is not wanted to be seen and the piss is taken out of it. Thanks. I'll try to take it as light banter.
Guest MattP Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 I once pissed on a homeless person in St Martins Square when drunk. I was a Liberal Democrat at the time.
purpleronnie Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 I once pissed on a homeless person in St Martins Square when drunk. I was a Liberal Democrat at the time. Was he on fire?
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 I once pissed on a homeless person in St Martins Square when drunk. I was a Liberal Democrat at the time. Is that a humblebrag? Are you proud of doing it? Or were you joking?
Guest MattP Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 Was he on fire? Nope. Is that a humblebrag? Are you proud of doing it? Or were you joking? Nope, Nope and Nope. It was in a corner and I was very drunk, I only noticed about half way through when no piss was coming back that it was just seeping into his sleeping bag. I dropped a couple of quid next to him afterwards as a gesture of appreciation.
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 Some at the radio station did the frog story (Father Chaz) He liked it. He is the Churches rep and said it made a change after dealing with people in desperate need of help. No laughing matter.
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 Nope. Nope, Nope and Nope. It was in a corner and I was very drunk, I only noticed about half way through when no piss was coming back that it was just seeping into his sleeping bag. I dropped a couple of quid next to him afterwards as a gesture of appreciation. Quote How can that ever be justified?
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 It's one of the stages alcoholics may encounter on their journey. Of course if they have distractions such as a good mental health a job, house, wife, family, and a reasonably stocked bank account the impact is not so devastating and dire consequences can be avoided.. Not always the case but every little helps.
DennisNedry Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 I can't watch those DNO videos. I just get irritated by the constant 'the government does nothing for us' rhetoric. Here's an idea, do something yourself other than stand around all day making shit videos that nobody watches.

Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 Not watched it yet. Have they restrained the owner? The dog could be protecting his owner. But if they felt in danger at the time I'm not sure what they should do. It'll be in their manual ''Killing for Newbies'

Here's an idea, do something yourself other than stand around all day making shit videos that nobody watches. Are you saying that having training for film making, photography, media work should not be there? Are you saying that videos giving out information to help people back to work should not be made. Are you also saying that these people that have had experience of homelessness, hostels and shared housing should not be allowed to tell their stories? Would you rather have a video of a Royal birth so tou wouldn't have to see the riff raff? http://www.mydownnotout.org.uk/about-dno/ Just say the word and I won't post this type of story anymore.
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 With the anniversary Olympics this has been overlooked. To be honest I have not heard of this before. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/deaflympics-deaf-athletes-get-set--but-who-is-watching-the-silent-games-8732555.html

Rincewind Posted 26 July 2013 Author Posted 26 July 2013 Could have been an ex-squaddie. Puts his life on the line, leaves because of stress comes home only to be pissed on by someone who has a dislike for anyone without a roof over their head. That is Britain today.
