Larry_LCFC Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 7/10! Your rating: Postman. You're wicked at this.# Not bad for a guessing game
Rincewind Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 2/10 Not really a city person. someone got less than me.
ADK Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 someone got less than me. Funny thing is I grew up in London and lived there for 18 years. Most of the pictures were just suburban streets that could have been absolutely anywhere.
Rincewind Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 I would have thought to be labled taxi driver you would need 10/10 I only got the London Bridge one because of the bus and I always end up around that area when visiting.
Bert Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 London is a dump full stop. Over-rated, over priced toss hole.
purpleronnie Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 shows how rough 99% of london is Nothing like a good generalisation from someone who doesn't know shit.
ADK Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 London is dross though. If you are earning good money you might just be able to afford a cupboard to live in that is vaguely a bearable commute to where you work. Then enjoy paying between 1/3 and double the price for many goods and services. Also I believe it's impossible to live anywhere that isn't 10 minutes walk from some absolute shithole. Oh and people talk like utter twats too, well if they actually speak English.
purpleronnie Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 Cracks me up, millions tourists flock there, anyone who has lived there will realise how beautiful it is and how green it is with so many beautiful parks, full of history, if it was in another country everyone in the UK would be raving about it, but most just take the uneducated view on all british cities and churn out the same old tripe 'its a shithole'.
I am Rod Hull Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 London is an amazing place, there is so much to see and do but it does have its bad points like most cities. Hoping to get down to Hyde Park for the last night of the proms in a few weeks time. The mother and father in law live in Hornchurch (Essex) and its a doddle to just jump on the tube and head on up there. Free board and lodging too

How do you know this though? I've been there enough to form my own opinion of the place, just like you have, just because people don't agree with you doesn't make their opinion uneducated.

Strange isn't it. It is such a diverse and interesting place I honestly just don't get people that write it off as a shithole.

I`v been visiting the city at least once a year for last 20 (the mrs is from down that way) and i`v still not seen everything. Describing London as a shite hole is just crazy, its an amazingly beautiful city and maybe the greatest on Earth?
ADK Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 That's probably because you don't live there then. I think it's ok as a tourist city.
I am Rod Hull Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 That's probably because you don't live there then. I think it's ok as a tourist city. I wouldnt want to live there but I wouldnt want to live in any city tbh The sticks > all cities
James. Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 That's probably because you don't live there then. I think it's ok as a tourist city. Lived in London for over 9 years. Love it more than ever.
lavrentis Posted 23 August 2013 Posted 23 August 2013 I wouldnt want to live there but I wouldnt want to live in any city tbh The sticks > all cities Well said. Give me fresh air, country pub and friendly people who actually nod at you when you walk past them on the street over living in a crowded city. (And I live in Leicester).
ealingfox Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Bear in mind that in British vernacular any place that you aren't from and/or live in constitutes a shithole.
OzFox Posted 24 August 2013 Author Posted 24 August 2013 Haven't lived in London for 15 years, but still miss it. It's packed with history, beautiful parks & gardens and some great buildings (my personal favourite is the Natural History Museum) Those describing it as a shithole presumably haven't been to Hampstead, Greenwich, Mayfair, Notting Hill, Kensington, Holland Park, Hampton, Highgate, Chiswick, Barnes, Richmond, Kew, the City etc etc. Or taken a trip down the river. Just my opinion but I think London blows away most European, American or Australian cities. It's always up there in the "most visited cities list" for good reason.
absolutelegend Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Nothing like a good generalisation from someone who doesn't know shit. That's odd, I lived there full time for 4 years and still live/work in the City from Mon to Thurs (for nearly 10 years now). My experience is based on that. Don't get me wrong, London is a fantastic place for tourists, kids fresh out of uni, and infrequent visitors, not many places better! But as a place to live, work, and bring up a familiy etc. it's not the best. Most of my friends worked and lived here there during their 20's, but all have moved away for a better quality of life. Some still work there though. This could be labelled at most cities, but the things that can make city life unpleasent are even more prevelant in London due to its size. I still don't think I'm wrong in saying that the vast majority of the place is not that nice.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 Love visiting London but would hate to live there

Rincewind Posted 24 August 2013 Posted 24 August 2013 I would not like to live there. Too expensive but I've only seen mostly tourist areas. London is like several towns in one. Each district having it's own distinct feel to it. I'm sure there are areas where the living cost is cheaper. It is only when you come into the centre that costs sour. Was watching a program about the traffic congestion. Most accidents happen when traffic is at a snail pace. Showed people at a bus stop and even though they were every 5-10 min every one was full that went by. One woman was saying it's not good enough I've been here since 7AM we want a better service and I thought try walking to a stop where there isn't a queue you silly woman. (or something like that) Londoners seem used to life there. I get fed up with Leicester sometimes. I've about seen everything and there is only one City Centre.
