The People's Hero Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 Is this worth a watch? Had it recommended by quite a few people. Many of those people also liked friends, lost and hollyoaks though? What am I missing? Is it genuinely interesting? Or shallow and over the top enough that ill want to gouge out my eyes.
MikeyT Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 I watched all the episodes. First few are a bit iffy but it does get better. Acting in some places is a bit questionable as well. It was alright. 6/10 maybe.
Webbo Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 It's worth it to see Rebecca Ferguson with her kit off alone. Good story as well.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 I really enjoyed it. Really glad I watched it all the way through.
The People's Hero Posted 7 September 2013 Author Posted 7 September 2013 Is there to be another series, or is that it? Done?
Nick Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 I watched the first episode. The standard of acting just made it unwatchable for me in terms of investing any time into it.
The People's Hero Posted 7 September 2013 Author Posted 7 September 2013 investing any time into it. This is my concern. The wife and I have about an hour slot each night where we both get to watch a bit of TV. We are looking for something to get our teeth in to. Would Game of Thrones be a better bet?
AoWW Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 I thought The White Queen was dire - the acting was so awful it made it unwatchable for me. Shallow.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 September 2013 Posted 8 September 2013 Can't stand Games of Thrones I'ts all a matter of taste I guess. Have to say I didn't have a problem with the acting in The White Queen.
lavrentis Posted 8 September 2013 Posted 8 September 2013 I think TWQ takes itself abit too seriously. Agree about the terrible acting, the story line isn't that compelling either though that's probably down to the acting.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 Having read through the thread and one thing does strike me re: comments on the storyline and it's this... You do realise that The White Queen was based on actual history? So hands a little tied and all that. I quite like the take that Richard III wasn't so much a villain (as the Tudors painted him) as a victim of circumstance (and manipulative women.) Whilst watching TWQ (which was okay) the similarity in storylines (at least for the first book/series) was uncanny, though I'm sure I've read somewhere that GRRM said the Wars of the Roses was pretty much his initial inspiration.
AnotherShitSeason Posted 9 September 2013 Posted 9 September 2013 GoT is SO much better than TWQ One step away from playing with lead orcs in Games Workshop on a Saturday. For nerds. Avoid.
The People's Hero Posted 29 October 2013 Author Posted 29 October 2013 Watching Game of Thrones currently purely as I just don't have time to read the rest of the books. Not sure what to make of it. Would be nice if kids would be quiet enough to ever watch more than 5 mins without pausing
