The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/24052562 How much do you spend at the footy? http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23723537 I'll do mine later, need to get to work! Just over £1000 which when you consider almost half that is from the ST its very reasonable I think. I put £10 for travel and £15 for beer. I've never bought a program despite ours looking very good. Sometimes I spend much more sometimes i don't spend any-even on travel. It's the away games that do me though
Fox92 Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 We do a 120+ mile round trip for every home game as ST holders. I then get a programme, that's £3, and a pie at £3.20. Sometimes go to pub before. Hell of a lot... And with the rise of ticket prices, it will only get worse. You could easily go on a 'day out' for what you end up paying every game at the football. Fans are getting priced out, and I cannot see that changing. There needs to be a time where owners realise that without fans there is no club.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 September 2013 Author Posted 12 September 2013 How much does yours amount to every season then?
Strokes Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 We do a 120+ mile round trip for every home game as ST holders. Try going in a straight line, it might cut it down.😛
Fox92 Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Just under 1.3k apparently (But I'm not calculating 23 home games because I do miss a few if I'm honest). ... Using google to work out price of petrol which obviously varies. But, like you said, that's not even considering away games! Try going in a straight line, it might cut it down. English roads, straight!? ... I only wish.
Dan Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Mine will be an absolutely astronomical figure when I get round to doing this. This '#priceoffootball' stuff comes out regularly, but we don't really learn anything from it. I see Leicester have made a little bit of news with this TV game refunding thing. Good PR but I still think that deal is nothing special at all and getting the PR today has made them sound better than they are, so not a bad move from them. You only get TV games refunded after the sixth one, well I can guarantee I'll be extremely pissed off if it comes to that. Win/win from the owners there.
ousefox Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 My spend last season will be mental. Travelling from Newcastle, but then I missed quite a few that were on TV. Don't want to work out how much I spent!
Leicesterpool Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 I worked out the other day I spend normally £200 a season on programmes! It just proves how football rules our lives, its like having a drinking habit to them you can't avoid it.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 How can you possibly spend that much? £3 x 46 = £138 that doesn't include the boro home and aways.
Fox92 Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 £3 x 46 = £138 that doesn't include the boro home and aways. That means you go to every game?
Leicesterpool Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 That means you go to every game? I also buy the ones i miss out on,
Guest MattP Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Don't even want to do this. Tickets aren't generally the problem it's the £100 cash I'll spend every time I go footy.
BHAFC Braders Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Did it and it made me cry , Annoyingly that only includes home league matches and what you spend in the ground. Last season I did all but one away , all but one home (still bought a ticket and a programme for that one mind) , spent a fortune in the club shop , all the cup games etc..
The People's Hero Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 If football is considered expensive then it just proves benefits are set at too high a level as lamby has been following Charlton home and away for f sake! Just proves what people very often say - football is no longer the working man's game. Only not quite in the way most people mean it.

His Dad pays for his season ticket, so that'll be a huge chunk of his spend every season covered.
Bridge Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 My ST for my local club(Portland Timbers) is about $600..spend about the same amount on beer & transportation. Away travel is limited cause of the distances involved..although I do try to travel to the away matches in Seattle & Vancouver B.C. This year I'll have to add a few grand for travel as i hope to be at a home match at the KP in Oct.
