iniesta Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I know I am tempting fate as we haven't qualified yet. Pissed up at the weekend a couple of mates and I decided to start saving and go to the World Cup next summer. Anybody planning on going? Any tips on the best way to start planning the trip, cheapest way to do it etc. I am a bit of a novice when it comes to planning trips like this, so any help would be appreciated.
Uncle Albert Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I have no intention of going so I cant help you, sorry.
Guest MattP Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 Hoping and intending too. Will depend on price and if I can afford it but want to do Fortaleza, fascinated by what I've read about the the city.
DennisNedry Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I envy anybody who can afford / have the time for this.
absolutelegend Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I envy anybody who can afford / have the time for this. or who's mrs would let them
ousefox Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I fancied it, but my mate couldn't afford it, and Brazil does look dangerous as ****.
Uncle Albert Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 In all seriousness if I could then I would jump at the chance of going Brazil, just isn't possible. France 2016 it is for me.
iniesta Posted 14 October 2013 Author Posted 14 October 2013 I have looked online and the lack of stuff regarding it is surprising. Found a package through Thomson for 8 grand with tickets to all of the England games, travel and accommodation. It's tempting but I always find with deals such as this your paying for convenience rather than value. Having looked in to it a bit more now, Brazil will definitely be my home for the summer, hopefully spend a few weeks on the cocoa trail afterwards!

Leicesterlad96 Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 Been speaking to my mates dad and he's involved with policing England fans for tournaments and that, like taking passports of banned peopl and that stuff. They have started planning for the euros in 2016 already and if we qualify they expect up to 200,000 English people to go over!
Guest Bilo Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 France 2016 has the potential to be nuts. Hopefully not Marseille 1998 nuts though.
Guest MattP Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 France 2016 has the potential to be nuts. Hopefully not Marseille 1998 nuts though. If we are drawn in Marseille it will be same again. Impossible for it not to be.
Uncle Albert Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I was only 7 for France '98 and I've read England books about Marseille that Summer, certainly be a place I avoid if England were situated there. Bloody Tunisians..
Ric Flair Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Hoping to go to Brazil and definitely going France. I was saving to go to South Africa next year but England have had my kegs down again haven't they and i'm now mustard for next summer. Plus i've stopped gambling so realistically getting £5000 together won't be as impossible as it would have been had I been mainlining a few G on roulette still. Now to tell the missus..........

Don't go with Thomsons, you'll pay double what you would to sort it yourself! http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/86791-brazil-world-cup-2014/page-2 Check out Freemans Wharfers posts, might be useful for planning your trip. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about our planning. Just a case of saving for us now!
bovril Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 A group of us in Sofia agreed to go if both Bulgaria and England qualified knowing full well it would never happen. Money and time and real hatred of flying being the problems.
MC Prussian Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 I wonder how easy it's going to be booking a trip to Brazil next spring, with all the demand arising. Right now, it's a question of money (not that I couldn't afford it, but I don't want to touch my savings yet). I'd really love to fly over and see a few games here and there (especially when Switzerland is involved, of course), but I wouldn't want to spend too much. Are there any good (official) combo offers available? Obviously, I don't want to be taken advantage of with rip-offs.

The only benefit is that as theyre the official tour company i believe you get tickets through them.If you're an England member or fancy the chances in the ballot or buying tickets out there then www.sportops.co.uk are the ones to go for. Been with them to Basel and Kiev. Well organised, specially chartered flights though you will pay slightly over the odds its nowhere near as expensive as thomsons. All you have to worry about is turning up at the airport on time. For the Euros last year they did individual trips as well as package trips (2 group games interconnecting flights and digs included in the price etc) I'd be slightly suprised if they did individual games for brazil though if there's enough interest in them they will.
iniesta Posted 15 October 2013 Author Posted 15 October 2013 Thanks for your replies, been really helpful. Do you think the difference in price of flights will be much higher when the draw is made in December? I am thinking to just book some flights a few days before or after the start of the tournament and just see where it takes us, have been advised to not bother with booking accommodation as there will be plenty of hostels to stay at that will not be fully booked and will be a lot cheaper than online. Im budgeting to save a £1,000 a month until the tournament starts.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Prices will rocket immediately after the draw. If you want flights to the destinations its a case of fastest fingers first trying to beat other people booking as well trying to beat the airlines upping their prices. Could be worth looking at flying to Dublin and then flying out seeing as though ireland won't be there. Could be slightly cheaper.
Simmo86 Posted 19 October 2013 Posted 19 October 2013 Been given the green light by the Mrs. Just by having a quick peek reckon camping is going to be the way to go!
Soar Fox Posted 19 October 2013 Posted 19 October 2013 Pretty sure you don't get match tickets with the Thomson package. But they guarantee your money back if you can't get tickets.
AyewJoking Posted 19 October 2013 Posted 19 October 2013 as immense as it would be, i'll be at home watching on the telly
