MONreborn Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Hello I'm moving to Leicester next year as I have a job working at the Leicester Royal. I was wondering if you could help me in terms of what the city has to offer for want of a better phrase 'young professionals.' Are there areas where working youngsters tend to live? Where/what are the nice bars in town? I'm looking forward to seeing more LCFC too.
Mack Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 I'd find a decent suburb/village within 15 minutes travelling time and commute. Leicester is a nice city but it's also nice to leave it behind for some peace and quiet in my opinion.
Finnegan Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 The bars around New Walk / "Beaver" (welcome to Leicester) Street are alright as is Braunstone Gate. There's a lot of shit in the city center.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 The bars around New Walk / "Beaver" (welcome to Leicester) Street are alright as is Braunstone Gate. There's a lot of shit in the city center. Agreed. New Walk is really pretty good and more upmarket than the city centre.
Vlad the Fox Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Do you still get prostitutes patrolling new walk?
Guest MattP Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Do you still get prostitutes patrolling new walk? No, they have moved into Stunnerz on Narboro Road.
kingfox Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 No, they have moved into Stunnerz on Narboro Road. I'm close, might check it out this weekend.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Be prepared to see many empty shops and pound shops.
danny. Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Freemens Meadow (to live) might suit you, loads of young professionals there and 5 min walk from the Royal. Rent is quite high though.
MPH Posted 19 October 2013 Posted 19 October 2013 It all depends on what kind of young professional you are.. you might like the top of Victoria park rd and the queens rd area. Few doctors and the like live around there some nice flats and shared houses around there. couple of nice bars but not really get drunk out of your skin types though.. opposite a huge park too.. bit more expensive to live than the narborough rd area
ealingfox Posted 19 October 2013 Posted 19 October 2013 When I've walked down New Walk in the moonlight I have often forgotten that I'm not in Paris.
lavrentis Posted 19 October 2013 Posted 19 October 2013 No, they have moved into Stunnerz on Narboro Road. If you want to move in the town, avoid Narborough road area at all costs.
