Yeah but you can't say it out loud ......

Go on ... try to say MON isn't God anymore...... You're mouth goes dry, your voice cracks and you p1ss your pants ..... it's impossible to do!!!

I'm the wrong person to ask regarding MON, only 20 years old, so wouldn't be as qualified to comment as our older fans.

I won't ever forget what he's done for Leicester but that's not to say he was brilliant everywhere else.

Ask Lazio & Benfica fans what they think of Sven at Leicester (after they've been told), if they tell you he's still as good as he was then they're too biased to be taken seriously.

It's the stats from the time ... had the second best win ratio of any England manager ..... Not sure if that's changed in recent years but was right at the time of his departure as England manager.

Another Sven myth that's completely not true then.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England_national_football_team_manager

Hoddle, Ramsey, Capello and Greenwood all had better win ratios. Please don't tell me anyone is ranking him above Sir Bobby either? (Not that I think they are that important given the groups we get these days)

Even Roy got as far as he did in a Major tournament with a squad twice as shit.

In case anyone wants to view Sven fairly ........

England manager summary[edit]

Eriksson improved England's FIFA World Ranking from 17th place in January 2001 to 5th place in July 2006, reaching 4th during the 2006 World Cup, and was rated by the FA as England's second most successful manager after Alf Ramsey. He is the only England manager — other than the short-lived Terry Venables and current head coach Roy Hodgson â€” who has never failed to guide England to the last eight in a major tournament.[16]

Under Eriksson, England achieved the highest point percentage in major tournament matches of all time for an England manager,[17] losing only three competitive games (excluding extra-time) and achieved top qualifying place in all three International tournaments. Only Brazil matched England's record of reaching the quarter-final in tournaments in 2002, 2004, and 2006. Coincidentally, the same manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari, knocked England out of all three of these tournaments, first with Brazil and then twice with Portugal.

Eriksson is the only England manager never to have led an England team out at their permanent home venue of the old Wembley Stadium or the new Wembley Stadium. Wembley was closed for redevelopment the same month that the FA asked him to take over, October 2000, and he resigned before the new Wembley Stadium was opened.

Stopped reading at 'world rankings', the same crock of shite that rated Czech Republic as the best team in Europe a few years ago.

Doesn't explain how he was 2nd most successful England manager??

What an accolade.

You should have read the rest .... It's an impressive record.

What an accolade.

For a LCFC manager???

Anyone spring to mind with a better accolade than that in the history of the club????

Kinell, changed my mind and read those 'England summary' stats and they're all completely clutching at straws, based on the ridiculous world rankings or failing to take into consideration the standard of players England had.

How can we be ranked 4th DURING the World Cup and get knocked out in the quarters? They're a load of crap.

We Finished 4th ... think you're reading it wrong.

Clutching at straws to say he has the highest major tournament win percentage of any England Manager????

So discounting the pointless friendlies, and in the games that matter ... has a higher win % than anyone else ..... how on earth is that clutching at straws?????

What an absolute biased crock of shit, so he's rated better as Robson as Sir Bobby once went out at the Group Stage despite guiding us to the semis and quarters with worse squads?

World Rankings lol Highest point percentage, means nothing when you being knocked out of conscutive tournaments by teams with Roque Junior in defence and Helder Positiga up front because of his negative subs, of course he didnt lose many, he played for penalties in every match we ever played in the knockouts.

I notice that doesnt mention him sticking Scholes on the left wing for years and ending one World Cup campaign chasing a game with Lee Bowyer on the pitch.

What an accolade.

And important to mention it's not actually true on win percentage as stated.

Does another club count, because he is still connected with LCFC regardless?

In which case, Martin O'Neill won the First Division/Premier League, three league cups, one European Super Cup and two Champions' Leagues while being managed by Brian Clough.

Doesn't get much better.

The defence of this bloke gets more ridiculous over time.

I have a feeling in 30 years people will be talking about Sven as our greatest ever after he won us the World Cup in 1966.

That is weird .... Wikipedia wrong there then.

You are right though - I'd said he had the second highest win % and I was wrong ... in competitions not friendlies he had the best record of all time.

Dont; understand ......

But yes of course MON's accolades WITH LCFC surpass anything ... but as far as accolades go second best England manager becomes LCFC manager .... I'm delighted with that..... and still think he gets ridiculous unfounded criticism.

I'd like to see a source for that.

Even if true, shame that doesn't win you things.

He should be high though, he had the best squad of players I've seen in my lifetime available for England, regular Champions League final players all over the pitch. Had we employed a manager with attacking intent we could have won 02 or 04'.

What get's more ridiculous is how you attack the guy regardless of any facts about his record as a manager.

The way he gets spoken about here is like he'd struggle to assemble a park team ...

I've quoted the source above. It's wikipedia so it could be wrong - but I somehow doubt it.

Yeah, I get you know.

Oh yeah, Sven's name is massive and was slightly ridiculous that he ended up managing at Leicester. We got the media, and attracted the better players. But I'm glad that's over now, and as I always stress, I'm not a massive Sven fan.

He did get voted second greatest England manager ever, but is he? It's all opinions isn't it? Was he better than Bobby Robson, Glenn Hoddle?

Indeed ..... Division 3 Champions!!!!!!!

Don't make this into a Sven v NP debate ...... we've had enough of them surely ......

Just let's not blot out a massive international career of success, cups, league wins and a great record as an England manager just to slag the guy off for no reason.

Sven won nothing with England but you're saying that his record at England was fantastic. I don't understand.

Why does Sven's win % matter but Nigel's doesn't/didn't?

Personally ... Hoddle yes far better ....

Sir Bobby .... No, never ..... a gentleman, a scholar, a winner, an honest and true Englishman ..... Noone ever beats Sir Bobby.

Who was the best side we beat in a competitive match under Sven?

No Idea ... Germany??

Here's one for the Sven doubters ......

Who was the first manager to ever win league and cup doubles in 3 countries????

The bloke would be powerless without money. It's quite amazing how someone who keeps failing time and time again is still landing jobs at rich clubs.

He's entirely reputation and it's one that he doesn't deserve. This bloke's took serious risks with our clubs future with his utterly reckless spending yet some on here still defend him because he's a big name. He's a complete one-off, I've never known anything or anyone like him.
