Time to drop Nugent?

Recommended Posts

I am waiting for Nuge to score run up to the kop, pull up his shirt to reveal

THAT ONES FOR U LEE

I'm a passionate fan,

I don't sit in the kop ;)

To be fair, I wouldnt mind, but He'd have to score 5 this month to convince me, if nugent is playing deeper, Vardy not the goalscorer, wood not getting a run, Who is our goalscorer?

Good job it's a team game then eh?

A team that would most likely improve if nugent didnt get such a long run in the first team.

they say don't change a winning team,

But if you have a couple of players not contributing to it as much as they should, they can be improved.

Agree,

Still been one of our best players, but not as solid as last.

Maybe no longer the best defender in the league like last season and no carrying our team. But an important part none the less.

He's been one to admit about the contract situation aswell, Claiming it is not a problem "Yet" But he did mention it,

I think it's affecting him, although it shouldnt.

One week we all say Nugent is our best striker and find ourselves praising him i.e Ipswich.

Now tonight people want him dropped again, and will probably be calling him shit.

How opinions change.

My opinion has been consistent for what is approaching a year now.

I have stated it many times, I am even bored of this topic.

Wood is by far the better striker and if played into form which means giving him a run of games then he could fire us to promotion, no doubt about it, he could be that good.

Tough call really. Whilst clearly off form, we play with a defend from the front and a counter attack at pace style. Which probably suits him more than it does Wood. Do you sacrifice someone who benefits the teams style for someone who potentially is a better finisher?

They are going to start thinking we are the same person with 2 accounts if we carry on agreeing like this

I don't want this thread to be all doom and gloom. We are still top of the league etc, etc but one thing concerns me. Nugent. Another game goes by where he doesn't get on the scoresheet. Missing too many crucial chances game after game. Got a feeling this season could come down to goal difference yet again and we need to be slotting these chances away. Not to say we aren't scoring, but it frustrates me at the amount of chances Nugent is wasting.

We have a bench full of strikers chomping at the bit and it feels to me that maybe Nugent is being given a free pass into the starting 11. Surely any other player would have been dropped by now. Hes not a bad player and runs his heart out, but it has to be Wood, Schlupp or Taylor-Fletcher for me against Brighton. Nugent needs time to get his act together. Maybe a game or two on the bench will make him realise he is not untouchable.

Thoughts?

NO! Nugent is untouchable and don't forget he scored 2 against Ipswich once upon a time.

Lets put this into some sort of perspective. Nugent is a quality striker with some pace aswell, when he is in form. He shouldn't be sold and this shouldn't be turned into a witchhunt against him. Last night was just one of many performances this season where he has made little impact and wasted opportunities that he has to be scoring. That is why he needs to be dropped for a match or 2 to get his act together. Clearly allowing him to keep his place isn't achieving that. Yes, he offers good link up play and runs his heart out, but at the end of the day he is playing in a striking position and as such needs to be scoring aswell. Nugent has a massive part to play this season, but he is being carried to an extent at the minute by other goalscorers and that's not right. Give him some time out the team, and hopefully he will work hard and come back at Xmas better than ever.

Will you never learn ? Sound reasoning has no place here!

5 in 5 and no penalties I presume, but the issue of who's our goal scorer clouds things as it is more a matter of style play which creates goal scoring chances for more than just one or two players,

5 goals from open play, any more penalties more than welcome, Atleast he can add something to the team if he's converting his million chances a game

Did Schlupp actually come into that post? God no, he's been pretty diabolical apart from the Watford game. I do slightly agree with the rest of the post, he needs a game out I reckon.
