Time to drop Nugent?

Recommended Posts

I have been saying rest him for some time, we have seen recently what he is capable of and is clearly a quality striker but lets take a bit of the pressure off him. I liked the passion he showed last night when he messed up one of his chances, you could see how frustrated he was.

He will come good again but a bit of rotation with the strikers we have would do no harm and allow all combinations match time together so they play better together.

Problem is FOX, is in just over 3 weeks, teams can approach him to sign at the end of his contract for free, so if we are to keep giving him chances he needs a new contract!

This is a classic !!!!! Why would another club offer him a contract ? Based on your postings no one would want a lazy over paid penalty scoring player and let's face it if we got an offer we wouldn't miss him. So it's win win and there are loads of strikers just waiting to take his place, so surely that's what you want Lee?

If new deals are not signed by January, interested clubs will be able to hold talks with any out-of-contract players as well as signing pre-contract agreements.

Haha, another typical foxestalk poster

Did you not see where I said "I hope I am proved wrong"

And he would be a sought after player, he's been there and done it, and teams would be willing to take a chance on him, just like we did, He flopped before we took him on, and apart from a good first season, and a mediocre second, he's been average at best since january.

I didn't say he would be shit for anyone else, he's just shit for us, Could be down to wanting a contract, Family stresses, not getting on with players/manager well, can't be bothered, We do not know! the facts are he's not the player he has been for 11 months and it's not excusable anymore, So why carry on?

No doubt forest would take him,

You seem to be one of the ones that takes pieces out of a post just to try and have a dig at me, personally I enjoy how pathetic it's become, between you, bert and svensson haha, I quite enjoy it so keep it coming, to anybody who actually read my full post, they will know how much of an idiot you now look, because you took my previous posts and twisted them,

Love it  :pearson:

Bert, stop the excuses, hes played like this for months!

A few good games in 2 months is nothing to shout about

It's no excuse, it's called a fair and balanced view. Something you can't seem to offer.

Nugent was awful this evening. It's unfair to blame Wood for his so called poor performance tonight. All we did was bang straight long balls up to him the entire time he was on the pitch. He looked sharp on Saturday against Millwall. Agree with Bert, Nugent needs a rest

I hate the fact, that because Wood is a big chap he should be decent in air. He's a good player with the ball at his feet. He doesn't win many headers, he always tries to trap/control the ball and start to play football. He's not a Steve Howard, it's unfair on the lad to come on and then just expect him to win headers. He's not a good target man. I think it's time that he got a start at the weekend, he was shit hot at times last year, but form went off and he was dropped. But Nuge's been off form for a while, maybe dropping or 'resting' him would do him, us and the team the best.

Sorry bert, but you talk some utter shite,

He's looked "Tired" since january,

Funny how when he had 2 decent games against ipswich and Millwall,

you carried on your vendetta against me and my opinions on nugent, A full 4 days later "He must be tired"

Imagine how tired he would be if he played like vardy

Love that, absolutely love it.

Poor game, Excuses.

Good game "Oh great I have wood too burn on my fire"

People do realize that Nugent is playing a different role than last season don't they? It's going to effect his goal tally.

Last year he was an out and out striker. Playing much deeper this year.

Some don't

Agree he is playing deeper,

But he's had more chances than anybody on our team!

There would be excuses if he was so deep he was not getting into goal scoring opportunities, but the fact of the matter is,

He's missed more sitters and half chances than anyone, That is not excusable.

I would never expect him to hit 20 before christmas, but he could of acheived it if he had taken even half of his chances, He must average 2 clear chances a game, and about 5+ shots, If you're in a goalscoring position atleast 5 times a game and have a record like his?

It has to be rectified.

I don't mean this as an insult, but it just seems to me that as some people have it in for a player his misses and faults are multiplied over his other attributes.

My point is this- no one in this thread has mentioned his excellent link up play.. This is a major reason why he shouldn't be dropped.. the fact he is playing deeper and still able to get in so many goal scoring opportunities should be something that's commended..

This is quite interesting ... Pure conjecture on chances/shots and there was me under the impression that during games you only watched Nugent then went home to study the match stats and tapes.

It's a shame you don't reply to the post it self as turning into childish insults is about your level and then playing the trump card "but I want him to do well" fact is lee I tend not to bother replying to your posts, but me a typical poster lol ok that's as dumb as your I have been fighting for this for months ...... Oh yes your been into see Pearson every week to put him right lol

It must be you rubbing off on me then. Carry on showing how much of a vendetta you have against Nugent, you're only embarrassing yourself. I'll happily admit when he's played well and when he's played poor. Read around and you will see that.

Are you the only person that's allowed an opinion on whether Nugent is tired or not? He's played poor a few times this season but I've never called for him to be rested up until now.

Either way, I trust Pearsons judgement over the team he picks over mine, yours or anyone else's on that matter. He will do what he thinks is right for the team.

Nice to see you are STILL trying to make a name for yourself by claiming posters come after your posts. lol lol lol lol lol

One week we all say Nugent is our best striker and find ourselves praising him i.e Ipswich.

Now tonight people want him dropped again, and will probably be calling him shit.

How opinions change.

Houston we have our new Wellens.

Well, As you are a man who takes note of previous records as a guideline on ability, I will say this, Every post I make, you quote it with a sarcastic comment :) Like I said keep it coming,

P.s I'm not sure how important you seem to think you are, but having a debate with you everyday does not achieve "A Name" And is not my intention, Bare in mind that I have never quoted you on this forum with a disagreement, It's always you posting on mine,

Therefore I would suggest it is indeed YOU trying to get above your station.

Mod or no mod, Nobody is better than eachother on here.

you seem to think otherwise.

Putting that crap aside, With regard to nugent, the fact is bert he's been shite since january. it's taken you until december to realise, then you put it down to "Tiredness" Like I said, it's a good job he doesnt work as hard as the likes of DDW, Dyer, Morgan, wasilewski, Vardy, Knockaert and others, He would have a heart attack, if jogging around makes you tired that is.

His penalties do not convince me, but you let his record of goals this season overshadow the fact he's been one of the worst players who regularly start, on one of the top wages.

Sorry mate, but I think you have it wrong.

I don't need to justify what Nugent does, but I will be hoping he signs a new deal and there will be plenty of clubs on the upper end of this league interested in taking the boy on if he doesn't.

What about we Morgan....

C.wickham ran the show for them

If poss I'd break the bank to sign him...

Lets see the table early jan......some tough games coming up

Come off it mate, got outplayed one game by a £12m striker? Young and full of beans. Get over it.

Was only 5 months ago this man had Falcao in his sky rocket. Still a top player in this league,
