broughtonblue Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Whether he had a good game or bad I don't think he is the player to bring on when we are chasing a game as yesterday, in fact when nugent and vardy don't deliver, and with wood out I think it shows how weak our squad is. Schlup doesn't seem to offer the attacking threat we all hoped he would, likewise GTF. Is it not time to have one of the younger ones on the bench for occasions like yesterday? Hopper has been a couple of times, Blythe has had a good loan spell so should be up to speed, and Harry P hasn't been seen since his one match one goal at Leeds a couple of seasons ago.
Dan Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 My mate who's an Arsenal fan said he glanced over at our game, and wondered who the fat bloke who looks like he's been down the pub was... I got on TV again?!
sylofox Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Yep, and I agree completely. Waghorn is very expensive and has unfortunately not developed into the player most of us thought he would. Thats why hes gonna go and its probably the right decision. But he offers more of a threat than GTF. I dont get the GTF love-in.... Then again, a lot of posts are confusing me at present. It's not the post's col it's your age lol lol
Soar Fox Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Ending the game with GTF and Schlupp upfront shows how desperate we are for a new striker.
Corky Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 His first touch looked great, his second didn't.
Bettsj2 Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 I like GTF. He's good on the ball and holds it up very well. But please people, dont try and say that he isnt a fat fvcker. Our shirts are not at all forgiving and he has a least one spare tyre around the middle.
sylofox Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Ending the game with GTF and Schlupp upfront shows how desperate we are for a new striker. Spot on
Pen 3 Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 We should be comparing the squad's strength to our peers and where we want to be (in the Premiership) by any measure bringing him to Leicester was a puzzling decision and leaves me wondering if we do have the right targets when it comes to transfer business. That guy at Posh looks hungry for goals and there's one or two others at Coventry, Wolves, that would have been a better gamble perhaps?
Thracian Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Many probably felt the same about Ian Marshall in he Premiership he looked too grey and overweight but he was still good enough to score past the likes of Peter Schmeichel Haha to compare GTF to Marshall is laughable. Yes, GTF has ability but Marshall was a fearsome presence and always likely to score or cause such disruption in a defence that someone else scored. Having him and any permutation of Elliott, Walsh and Heskey going into the opposition penalty box for any kind of set-piece was like watching The Mafia take care of a grass, there were pieces flying everywhere and Marshall could finish too. Even in the Premiership, Marshall and co caused utter chaos in opposing defences whereas, for all his cameo flicks and finesse, I still don't find it easy to remember GTF's name, he's had so little impact.
JonnyBoy Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 his first touch is the best first touch of a labourer i have ever seen
gazfox9 Posted 16 December 2013 Author Posted 16 December 2013 It looks as though his sole purpose is to hold the ball up and link play. Based on that I suggest we'd be better off playing Wes Morgan up front.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 I did say at the time that I didn't really see the point in getting him. However he's impressed me, he's certainly got the technical ability even if he's not got the fitness abilities anymore. I think he's been useful, however I don't think we would've been worse off if we hadn't signed him.
