He had pole position in the bag and knew that Lewis was going to beat his time, there's no other way round it. Especially as Monaco is a difficult circuit to overtake at, being at the front of the grid is imperative. Rosberg will be lucky to escape a grid penalty.

Ok, so the initial right left right left twitches on his steering wheel could account for the fact that he just pushed it too hard plain and simple. However, what we didn't see is his attempt at reversing out of the run off which could have delayed the lifting of the waved yellows long enough to thwart everyone behind him. Lucky man imo.

IMO he did make an error but yes it is the incident after in which he reverses his car, knowing full well Hamilton will go quicker after he just messed up, so he wanted to ruin Hamiltons lap too. I so hope Hamilton beats him tomorrow, but it will be very difficult now as the pole holder rarely loses in Monaco...

Even as a big Hamilton fan I will give Nico the benefit of the doubt; I think he had the slight edge over Lewis anyway. But I agree that celebrating like that after such a jammy pole was a bit sour.

Nico never had the edge, Hamilton was set to go quicker on he last lap. Hamilton always saves the best lap till last, Rosberg made an error and Hamilton was entering his best sector after setting a personal best in the first sector, meaning the 0.053 difference would have been easily wiped out

Can't believe people are comparing him to Schumacher I agree, he certainly didn't plan it, it was an error... but he made the most of the opportunity to ensure no one else could beat his lap by prolonging the yellow flags... Certainly no Schumacher though

The BBC isn't as thorough in its coverage compared with Sky. There definitely was mention of the fact he reversed during commentary although this was never shown as it happened. Even Rosberg eluded to the fact he'd done so when questioned by the Sky Sports woman in a post qualifying interview. I dont think he intended to run off but in doing so made the most of the situation afterwards. That's what grates with Hamilton and he's got away with it. What goes around comes around - this is going to turn sour pretty quickly imo.

I don't think today was as bad as I don't think Rosberg cheated, but people are well within their rights to mention the Schumacher incident when talking about this. It's not tasteless to mention bad things Schumacher has done just because he's in a coma. He did a lot of dodgy things in his time, and they'll occasionally get brought up when similar things happen. Or should we only talk about him in a glowing light whilst he's in a coma? Oh and I notice you didn't answer my first point. So I am allowed to respond to your post every few months then or does that still class as obsessed? ****ing tool.

When it switches to Hamiltons on board camera it's even clearer to see that Rosberg has reversed to a point where he's just into the run off area. How is it that the stewards have missed this? It's obvious.

With his comments on 5live earlier, he would probably be on the end of a hefty penalty. If he gets the jump on Rosberg it will be interesting to see how hard Nico will defend. Either way, it should be an exciting start tomorrow.

It will be clean and Hamilton I feel will catch Rosberg out... this is the kind of pressure that Hamilton thrives on, best driver on the grid and he will prove it for a fifth time in a row tomorrow .
